COMCAST SUCKS!!!

monolithic - 2008-08-05 22:20

Man, for the past 3 or 4 days, my internet service has been kickin' in and out, sometimes for hours at a time! Every time I try to do anything internet related like search for something, post something, whatever - it shuts down!

I gotta keep an eye on the internet modem to make sure all the lights are on, 'cause when they go off, I can't do anything! Frown

Ya, I used to have Comcast - they sucked pretty bad in Texas too. Funny thing is - Time Warner Cable bought Comcast's cable system in 2005 or 2006. And I haven't had any problems with internet service anymore. Big Grin

Comcast was way out there in Texas, too? Wow, I thought they were mainly an East Coast cable provider. Then again, Comcast is huge!

Comcast is based here in Philly, but I wish somebody would take over like they did out there. This b.s. is starting to wear pretty thin! Mad

vladi123456 - 2008-08-06 05:45

We have quite a story with telecom companies in Texas.....Before Comcast it used to be ATT - the old one - before it went bye-bye. Comcast bought the ATT's broadband division in 2002. Then Cingular bought ATT wireless. And SBC bought ATT land lines and long distance. And Warner Cable bought Comcast's cable system in 2005 or 2006. You'd think ATT would be dead - but no - shortly after SBC renamed itself into ATT, and Cingular renamed itself into ATT Wirreless. This whole thing sounds like a huge scam to me. Now the new ATT is moving its headquarters to Dallas - so it's nice of them Big Grin

Sounds like it's gonna be an AT&T company again real soon! Laugh Out Loud

Unfortunately for me, Comcast is the only game in town cable-wise.

As far as internet service goes, I'd have to get Verizon DSL to escape Comcast's evil clutches! Frown

They have a new thing for new customers.
Get cable phone and internet. You get a free wii

Don't even get me started on Verizon DSL. Several years ago I had Verizon DSL for a couple of months, but - like your Comcast - the service was non-existant. I've called them two-three times a week to file complaints - because I was working from home at that time, and I couldn't do anything. Verizon could never fix it, so I switched to a different provider. And then Verizon said I owed them a termination fee. I told them I didn't have any service, so I had to switch, but they said they had no record of me ever calling them to complain - bastards deleted all of my complaints from the system. So I ended up paying the termination fee - a couple of hundred dollars. And then Verizon sent it to a collection agency - and they tried to make me pay it again. Overall - I hope Verizon goes out of business - I personally would NEVER buy anything from that company again Big Grin

monolithic - 2008-08-07 13:31

"a couple of hundred dollars"?!? WTF?!? Man, that is in-f*cking-sane!!!

These big companies know that because you need 'em, they can try to do anything they want, and most times, they can get away with it. Mad They only care about the money and not the customer...

until somebody hits their ass with a lawsuit! Wink

walkgirl - 2008-08-07 14:02

My internet company is sometimes really bad also,
at regular times the connection is just gone Frown
and when I call them they just say, oh, there
is nothing going on, maybe it is the settings on your
computer!

well, my computer is okay! (except for vista Big Grin)

monolithic - 2008-08-07 14:14

That's what these companies always say, "Maybe it's your computer", "Maybe it's your phone",... "Maybe it's you". No, jackass,... maybe it's your company messing with things and not telling anybody what's going on! Roll Eyes No No

walkgirl - 2008-08-07 14:28

Here they tell peoples to diconnect the modem
from the electrics for 2 hours, and then plug
it in overnew, then it should work!, well, I did
try that 2 times before I did notice it did not
help at all!, it is just to keep the complaining
peoples from them for a while Mad

monolithic - 2008-08-07 14:51

They say the same to us too... "Hit the reset button on the modem", "Pull the plug out",... the list of things never ends. Eventually, they have to send somebody out to see what's wrong and half the time, it's something they did.

But that's a real slick move... "Pull the plug out, wait 2 hours and put it back in. It should work fine then." What a sham! Roll Eyes

I tell you, the only way these companies will treat the customer right is if they had more competition in the area. I know they don't wanna lose customers.

Backtracking for a minute, I remember reading an article in the newspaper months ago about cable service in the U.S.... I believe that Comcast has the worst or the 2nd worst customer service complaints in the country.

More research via the internet: "Comcast is the largest cable provider and the 2nd largest internet provider in the United States." Eek I knew they were big, but not that big!

walkgirl - 2008-08-07 15:08

Frown Mad No No

I think we need to glomp them!

* GLOMP *

Big Grin

Well I still can ...
see the big beige box on the left with the
little green light? that is just what it is
and that power's the computer an the flatscreen
display. and on the right the little black
box that is a ditto of the beige box but black
and it power's the DSL.... So in case of a
black out I can still do internet providing
that the phone line's are not down as well ,,,
but you do know that, right? that the phone lines are
powered by the Telephone company and not
necessarily reliant upon you having electricity ...
Both Backups, together will power my system for about 45
minutes before the batteries run down

James

monolithic - 2008-08-08 03:36

You know,... all of what you said might actually be helpful,... if I had DSL! Roll Eyes

Man, if you had read at least some of the other stuff I wrote, you'd know that Comcast is a cable company - they don't deal with telephone lines or provide DSL service.

So, now that it's all said and done, you wasted your time posting a reply to a cable problem...
and made me waste my time posting a reply to your reply.

Much appreciated!

That's all part of the game. Wink I don't like the idea of giving one company that much power. They already get my money for cable and internet service, but lately, they've been phoning me asking me to switch my phone service from Verizon to Comcast. They say my bill would be cheaper if I bundle all of my services into one package, but I've never really had problem with Verizon. Comcast, on the other hand...

Man, that's great! It's usually the smaller companies that go out of their way to please their customers 'cause too many complaints and customers leaving can seriously hurt their business and lead to them going out of business.

Now, that's wrong! No No It might've helped to talk to somebody else 'cause maybe the people you talked to were a$$holes with attitude problems that day.
