Need an opinion on these speakers the Alesis Monitor 1 MKII Passive Monitors. They are non powered I figure asking here in the forum some of you guys may have owned any Alesis Monitors or have heard them in real time.

I've read a few reviews from some buyers and they wrote positive opinions on them. I hope maybe here I can also get some advice before purchasing them.

i like them. a friend of mine has that setup with a sub and their very accurate. i myself have event 20/20 but the alesis are very true sounding

These will be used as front field playback while recording in real time. No need for a sub I have my Klipsch KLF 20's.

Hi Ford93-I see you have a good ear for quality.
Klipsch's are very nice speakers.
I have some JBL 10" 3-ways from 1985' that still rock-out really nice.
Never blown a speaker and have abused them through the 80's.
I've never heard the speakers your talking about but good-luck with them.
I love DyneAudio from Denmark-Have them in the BMW-insane quality and so accurate.
By the way-is that your boxes in your avatar?

A friend of mine used Alesis Monitor 1's (not the MKII model) in his studio for a while many years ago. I thought they sounder fantastic. They had a really tight bass response and were perfect for the type of music we were doing. I'm sure the MKII model is much better now.

sitting next to my sound engineer mate, he says , in his own words , they suck to high heaven , but they are cheap. fine for home but not for professional use . .

Thats my intention Royal for home use, believe me I know theres other brand names way better like Tannoy, Yamaha, KRK etc...

The Alesis fits my budget and the reviews on them are positive so I'll give them a try. Out of curiousity what brand would you consider Royal?

personaly i would go for a nice used set of tannoys.
thats just me tho. some people hate reveals but i find them pretty nice for home studio stuff.

i have a set of reveals here i bought for under a hundred bucks that maybe had been used for a total of two hours.

The Alesis are not bad Frequency Response is 45 Hz-20 KHz +/-3dB thats pretty good. Plus I have a warranty and will get an extended one also.

I checked ebay for Tannoy speakers but most are active speakers, however there are some passive one's but I already have ordered the Alesis.
