my first ebay negative

chancenellie - 2008-12-07 06:18

Hi guys, have had to post this as its really p****d me off.I sold a box on ebay,a cheap Toshiba, but it was mint, totally as new,so i put new belts in it and it sold quickly. The buyer sent me a cheque. Then 7 days later he mails me demanding his stereo ? saying he payed days ago.So i mail him back explaining his cheque arrived 3 days after he sent it and on a Saturday so i banked the cheque on the Monday,3 days to clear then i would send it.Heard nothing, then a week later, another rude mail stating the stereo had a broken speaker, the ariel didnt work on FM ? and the tape had a constant hum.No prob i thought so i mailed him saying it must have happened in transit as the box was perfect when i sent it.I also apologised for the inconvenience and asked him what he would like to do .Again i hear nothing for a week until i get my first neg feedback Mad
I called ebay and they said i should open a non payment dispute ,that way i could get the neg feed back removed. Now he has opened a item not as described dispute.
I'm totally miffed as to what i should do especially as he gave me no chance to put it right, either by refund or a claim against the carrier.

After writing to the dealer and ebay he deleted his account... Mad

An other box i sold.
But the winner of the bid does nothing.
It´s just packed for sending, but he does´nt send money. Frown

Yeah, I feel for some of the sellers on there, I've had pretty good luck with most.

There are some that kinda scares me a little, I give them a chance though - I have never left neg feedback as that is a last resort.

Usually an agreement can be met (ex. It's got a blown speaker.. I'll send you a video - so that I can get a partial refund for the damage not listed in your auction).

People are too quick to get angry, ebay notified me of a seller's auction that was deleted by them for multiple neg disputes at once - after I WON IT AND PAID!!! I got ahold of seller and he assured me I would still get my stuff - I did.

Since ebay has taken a sellers rights away to leave neg feedback its been a free for all for Crappy buyers cos they know they cant get neg feedback themselves. Its a real stupid rule thats left us decent sellers wide open to abuse

That is exactly the problem.Sellers get screwed either way.I for one will not sell anything on E Bay any longer. My dealings will be strictly as a buyer. If I have something for sale I will offer it here on S2GO.EBay has turned there backs on sellers and they honestly don't care as they get paid either way.

You know, I gota message from eBay asking me to become a seller. I never have sold on eBay and keep getting evidence as to why I shouldn't.

Sorry to here the news Chance. Frown

hey oldie,it sucks for sure

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, Chance. Almost every time I send a seller a message, telling them how much I like what they've sent (which I always do when a purchase goes well), they write back gushing about how I've made their day. I get the impression that eBay sellers receive grief from buyers on a regular basis. So, when they see I've sent them a message, they automatically expect a complaint. When it turns out to be a compliment and a thank-you, they go nuts with gratitude. My conclusion: it must really be rough being an eBay seller. It's one of the reasons I just don't have the courage yet to do it.

I've been selling on ebay since 1999, but mostly camera gear. Photo gear buyers are 95% decent people and I've been real lucky. No negatives for me so far, but I've had to leave some negatives for sellers who misrepresented their items and didn't make it right... I've only bought boomboxes on ebay, not sold any of them yet.

My formula for selling is pretty simple. You just gotta be real careful about disclosing everything about your item, provide really detailed photos, package your items as well as possible, ship relatively quickly and communicate.

For me, selling on ebay is still a great way to supplement my income a bit and help make my expensive photography hobby much more affordable!
