resampling mp3s

isolator42 - 2008-11-28 04:08

can anyone recommend some freeware that I can use to resample batches of mp3s at a lower volume level?

This is an attempt to be able to use the EQ settings on my iPod.
When I made the mp3s, they were made at close to 100% volume. So if I use an iPod EQ setting such as "Loudness", then the bass level is pushed over 100% & distortion results Frown

It needs to do many mp3s in batches, as I have over 7000 to resample.
It also needs to maintain the ID3 tags & album art, etc. if possible

I've seen this software, but it isn't free Wink

Audacity is a great Freeware for MP3, but don't know if it can do your bulk needs.

If you could get your hands on someones copy of Goldwave, you'd be set.

What you need is MP3Gain. It's completely FREE and I've been using it for years. Works like a charm. Nod Yes

Just be careful when doing live albums as you'll need to do "Album Analysis" instead of "Track Analysis."

Though I'm not quite sure how MP3Gain works,it seems to have backed off the db loudness of most all the mp3s I have given it.This would seem to be what Iso wants.A single mouse click will do them all.Its very easy.

It's my understanding that it creates an ID tag with the original and modified values of the process. The "paid for" version has the added feature of being able to reverse the action to put the file back to it's original setting. As I only have the free version,I am wondering if this tag still retains a record of that original value if it is run through normalization multiple times.Does anyone know if this record is overwritten with no chance of retrieving it...or do I totally misunderstand how this program works?
