anyone may wonder what the east coast of the usa looks like in october --heres a bit of it from top to bottom:

start in boston (our home town before florida)





next -- connecticut :



then -- new york city --harlem section - thats me under the APOLLO sign --think of all the great american music played there



also hanging out in NYCity is my grandson rockin riley -he lives uptown --and he is the 'red' in redbenjoe



next 2 pix are virginia





next in charlotte NC --guess what kids do in charlotte -- yup- they all drive race cars !!!
our family is big into it there --that little kid jake is only 7 years old --with a room full of huge trophies



historic savannah geogia :


finally-florida --
at some times per year -we can drive almost all of the next 60 miles ON THE BEACH !! -all the way to Daytona



Daytona Beach -- main street- this road ends at the sea --then is driving on hard white sand-
we were there this past sunday --at one of the many bike week events -- very exciting town

I'll be honest, I don't know America at all well, only ever been to California (for work) & to visit my sister in Denver. I know this is all familiar territory to you guys but these pics are great, they tell a great story, very inviting indeed.

and get in there --to mix it up with the cities and the country roads --

the normal fast race to just 'get home' is always so boring

That's what it's about. I love to drive because you can see so many things you only hear about. Nowadays everthing has to be done in a hurry or no one has the patience.

Ira,those were some awesome shots! It was so cool you got to spend time with your family and friends. I agree with you on taking the backroads. It's nice to get there fast if you need to. But its better to be able to take it easy and see the real world on the backroads.

Nice pictures Ira. Apollo Theater...I have to admit I have never been in there. I must go see George Clinton there before the godfather of P-Funk dies on us. Its just that tickets are always in the $100 range and I come up short on motivation and getting someone to shell out for it. ALMOST went to the James Brown body in wake there. However thankfully I didnt because the mob scene up there would of made me miss work with out reasonable leave. It would of took me 3 hour alone just to get to the door of the Apollo.

Advice, dont walk the street of Harlem at night. It's not particularly safe. Everyday in the paper it seems someone gets shot up the above 125th street.

the daytime crowd is more like business than murder

You can walk thru any street in NYC during daylight. The freaks, with out a doubt, come out at night.

Hi Peter-I've met George and have personally partyied with him at Paisley Park Studion in Chanhassen,Minnesota.Prince's studios.
It was a blast-we hung out for like 2 hours.
I was writing down lyrics for him and Bootsy Collins back when they were up in Minn. about in 1992'
He's a wild & crazy guy!!
You got to love his head dresses!
I just thought I'd share that with you.
He even drew a cartoon and a greeting on my "Shouldn't Nuf Bit Fish" cassette!

Reminds me of when I was living in Ohio and taking roadtrips to Chicago, Columbus and Niagara Falls. Just great fun experiencing it all first hand. My favourite was getting a shot of Wrigley Field in Chicago,...mainly cause it's the Blues Brothers fake address.
