i only just found out about it on the news,how can america be in debt ? i thought america was one of the richest countries in the world ?? i know us (uk) in in massive debt,but america ?? no way !!

it's not a good situation. if al queda's goal was to financially break america with a nonsense war, it worked.

maybe if they would tax the rich businesses, instead of not taxing them. things might be a bit different.

apparently next months social security cheques and military pay are going to be coming from thin air.

it's all a bit troubling. even though i live in canada, i will feel the american troubles.

tax breaks for billion dollar companies so that they can creat new jobs... in china. good grief. not that canada is much better. and not that i even know anything about politics, it's all a bit too depressing.

i cant beleve this world is in soo much of a mess..bombings,killings,war,debt,i'm actually starting to beleve end of the world 2012,its getting ridiculous now..

the housing market is trashed too,a house 2 doors away from me sold for just £39,000 last month,but about only a year or 2 before,they were selling for double that..i think i will sell my boombox collection,and stash the cash,and when houses start selling for as less as £10,000 i will buy one..

We are saving up for a trailer to live in and simply stop having to pay rent, just have to move every few days ...

i posted already but looks like it got removed for some reason.

basically, america has been in trade deficit for years, this is the culmination of them burying their heads in the sand.    the american gov is a mess - i dont understand why they didnt try to fix this before.   funny thing is they never mentioned this, the trade deficit problem was about years before the economy slumped - its probably the cause of the economy going down.  yet they never breathe a word about it and its one of the largest problems.  they have some of the largest debt in the world and it gets brushed under the carpet and they pronounce themselves the richest nation on earth!

Like billy the binman said America has been in dept for years. Basically American’s are a nation of consumers, they consume far more than they need.

I’m not sure of the exact figures but America owns about 3 percent of the world oil but consumes about 25 percent of the world’s oil.

Also I believe about 13 percent of the world’s population lives in America and they consume more, so basically about 13 percent of the world population (America) consumes 25 percent of the world’s resources

If China called in the money America ours them America would go bankrupt, but that will never have as if China did that they will get nothing if America goes bankrupt.
