A missile has landed.

penge - 2011-08-01 11:20

Next to me on the floor, having just been delivered.
Is a brand new machine that can only be described as a hellfire missile, or maybe a one man submarine.
It is of  a JVC NB70B Boombox aka Boomblaster (On the box)
As i am having a big time birthday in 3 weeks i decided to buy myself early present.
Was a bit nervous when i unwrapped it, hoped it wasn't crap looking but wow looks like areal cool bit of kit.
I probably will have to spend the next week working out how to fly this baby.
Dosn,t play tapes unfortunely. I
Age? Ringo's first song he sung on one of the Beatles LP's.

Anyone got one, i need help to launch it?

I'll Stay with my (RV-NB1 with cassette) versus your computer enabled (cassette less RV-NB70B) and LESS Power as well; your 40 watter versus my 52 Watter

You dont need to Launch this  You need to hide it...

RV-NB70B

http://av.jvc.com/products/com...p?modelId=MODL028896 RV-NB70B Power Output (Total) 40W Power Output (RMS, 10% THD) 5W x 2, 4 ohms, at 1kHz (Full

-Range), 15Wx2, 4 ohms, at 1kHz(Super Woofer

RV-NB1

http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jspmodelId=MODL027366&pathId=37&page=1&archive=true

RV-NB1 52 Watts Total Power, Bi-Amplified   AMPLIFIER  RV-NB1  Power Output FTC (with no more than 10% THD) Full-Range: 6 watts per channel, min. RMS, driven into 4 ohms, from 150Hz to 15kHz; Super Woofer: 20 watts per channel, min. RMS, driven into 4 ohms, at 60Hz

only probable reason for keeping Your's would be less power Output means longer lasting on a set a batteries? - what? about, thirty minutes more than about 90 minute's for the RV-NB1 ... LOL

I think this has to be one of the most unkind humiliating statments of the year james....i'll say no more

Well I had to research the Brand new RV-NB70B to understand just what it is all about and as it just came out - last month or so I wondered what was different about it versus the Old RV-NB1.  Right on top I knew the music power output of the old was 52 watts so I had to confirm and given with the links provided.. this is like reminisent of the lasonic 931 versus the lasonic i931.  this is just a sign of the times that the newer Electronice comes out being I guess lighter weight definately less power and the Consumer demands More ability to play the digitally enhanced music - which requires More power and this unit comes out and have all of the latest technology and less output music power - I just dont understand this thought process...  I think ( but then who really cares wut i tink ) you should have spent $100.00 more and gotten that TDK boombox, like i would have if I was still buying stuff like this.  I dont keep on top of all of the latest music box's out there.  & seeing this New model I just had to check it out.. Gee you would think that jvc would put out something even more powerfull than what they had made in the past n they have to gall to put this lessor powered model out...

Yes Congradulations Penge upon making to another birthday. Yaaay!

I hope that this unit sounds well to you, I was just seeing this in a text format and i own 2 RV-NB1's and one is used as my "SPEAKER' for the DESKTOP computer suspended from the Ceiling behind me about 4 feet as I use it each and every day with the computer as the remote control comes in handy

Reno - still have Three (3) un-opened NIB boombox's 1 is probally gonna be a grail for me as I probally wont ever  open it and the other 1 we'll probally sell, dont know yet about the last one.

Thanks for those kind words Radio Raheen. I was just about throw it in the bin.
It is the most modern hi-fi  item i've bought for 20years at least, even my phones an Ericson T39
40 watts 50watts 2milwatts. 40,s loud enough and way to much if your playing Rammmstein.

I have 2 valves mono block amps which play my records.
They are running 2 100th Eimac valves( OK they are American) Tubes in each block.
The amps will run at 100watt but they are set to 45watt and that's as loud as hell.

But best of all i am using the guitar input and running a Boss OD-1 pedal and it sound great, even better it's a different sound.
Yes i am having fun with it.
I told the neighbors it will be on in the garden birthday night 27th.

 ...beautiful response, Alex!

Now you'll have to get an iPod Touch to put in that monster JVC. No point getting an iPhone while the Ericsson is still working

Penge...I showed my son your boombox and he thinks it's the coolest thing..

My collection though is still regarded as "ancient technology"

I'll never figure out this generation...but thanks for igniting a fire in my son's audio curiousity! It reminds me of me at that age

Congrats on the box!!
