45 days to file a claim, but would wait took me over 4 week to get alienware directly from dell as it had to be custom built. Still waiting on a tube amp on eBay from over a month ago that I paided $1500 for, but he did state it would take 6-8 weeks and has good feedback.

I thought, you couldn't afford to have your walkmans repairs? that a mighty expensive laptop you bought? But in all seriousness would ask for a tracking #, if no tracking is provided with the next couple of days, then file a claim.

radio.raheem - 2012-05-15 16:47

well still no latop...the seller seems genuine.otherwize why keep contacting me..but then i tried to phone her...it seems her phone has been cut off....is she planning to moove with my coin or what...note this did happen to me yrs ago...i lost £250...paypal couldn't get anything as they had taken the money from paypal and scarpered...

tried to open a case today...but ebay came back with it was to early to open one...as she only posted it on the 9th.with no tracking of any sorts..wich is a week ago...but i have been waiting over 3 weeks for this thing now...

if she isn't genuine i predict her next moove is to state the laptop has been returned to her...then for her to resend it with tracking..only for me to get an empty box..by wich time it will be to late for me to open a case...this is just prediction though..what do you guys suggest

If you didn't get tracking, file a claim already, if you have to, call ebay customer service and  and get eBay trust & Safety, no reason for her phone not to work, unless she used a burner, AKA prepaid throwaway phone. Three weeks is a long time for a item she has, she maybe dragging out the time on purpose, reason why she is contacting you, to get paypal to release the funds which is 21 days they hold the funds. Would call ASAP!! Also for insurance claim to be vaild, you have to have near perfect feedback if amount over $250 dollars, it's in their TOC, they put limits on what they will pay out and reasons.

Just remember if you get it, before opening it, use a camera and scale, just in case.

This is begining to look more like a scam, would have been on that phone once 2 weeks hit, especially being she near you. At first I thought your order international, but remember you are in the UK to.

Not to sure, it's 22 days, theirs still a chance, as it can take 3 days for them to release the funds after 21 days, only instant if she calls and bother them, if she did a bank transfer it take 3 days, you have 45 days to put a claim in, but don't trust Paypal after 21 days, as if they release the funds, unless you have a 100 percent and been on eBay for years and verifed, the only thing they will do is try to recover the funds, which is pointless, as they can't go into her bank account as it's against the law, the only thing they can do is a charge the card on file, but more likely prepaid.

is it to late retrodos...tried phoning them there closed

Read above

I had a bad seller that took $700 for a camera and sented hot coco mix instead, he did this to a few people, did a video about that and in the tags made sure to put Paypal and eBay and was refunded in 15 minutes of posting that video and the seller did spend the money. But before that video they said it would take 2 weeks as I had to go thur the process. Wasn't hearing that, so did a video, most still didn't get the refund, or had to wait weeks, plus they made the transaction look as it never happen and deleted the listing, which was odd?

Theirs way around anything and any issue can be resolve, all you can do is handle it worst thing you can do is panic, just hope for the best and make that call and be forceful, but more polite and talk to management about the issue, most of the time they can help and resolve the issue, as their no tracking proof and at the same time hope the seller just drag on senting it out and that it comes. In my case it was different as the seller sent the coco so dealt with the situation different and was prepare to take him to court, if need be.

I hate to tell you this, but that listing has red flags all over it. One she used a stock photo to sell a expensive used laptop, would never buy anything that expensive without seeing pictures of it in detail, especially a laptop where they are subject to abuse. Number two, it isn't even hers, she selling it for a family member, so she may have never had procession of the item. Third she claim to delay shipping intill the 4th and only a 3 day auction, plus notice her feedback was for small items under $5 dollar items, more to built the account up. Final the account new "09-May-11" just turn a year and the fact that their no other items for sale? This does not look good at all.

Most good scammers will keep in contact to buy time, especially when their a 21 day hold, otherwise scam would fail.

One way that may delay the funds being released is leave a negative feedback right away. Paypal does monitor those and look for risky transactions and will limit the sellers account, she can't spend the funds and stop bank tranfer, if it pending. You can always revise the negative, once item is received in good condition. You are just doing so to buy some time and stop payment from hopefully being released to the seller , plus you transfer some of the liability on paypal, doesn't look good for them when they still released the funds after you left the negative feedback, that their was a issue with the transaction.  Just hope that they didn't released the funds.

Would still leave a negative or neutral, even if you get the item, being that fact she didn't ship till the 9th more likely later then the 9th, she could have just printed the label on the 9th.

Take this as a very expensive leason, hopefully without the expense and recover the funds, or your have a nice laptop, that hopefully in good condition and next time don't just impluse buy, which you been doing lately. Just because you receive some funds from your boxes, doesn't mean you have to spend it right away. Do your homework first and wait and negotiate a better price on any item, you be shock on how much money you can save, even if it's a fixed price, I had sellers that sold cheaper, doesn't hurt to ask. Look at the item in detail and for flaws before negotiating to based your price, so it fair and not insulting etheir. Always read the fine print when using a service of any kind. Plus that listing does had red flags all over it. Looks like you didn't even bother to take the time read the listing?

Nothing worth while is ever easy and quick and requires alot of time and patients.

hi retrodos....thanks for your help in this...i have now opened a case....there was a glitch in ebays system last night but i managed to get customer support to open one for me....aparantly i have to weight untill the 25'th as the seller is still claiming she has sent the parcel but with no tracking...

you are right i am a compulsive buyer always have been...will just have to see what happenes next...once again thanks for your help..i sure don't want to end up with a pack of beans like you did...the dishonesty of some people just makes me feel ashamed to be human....i would like to belive the seller but the state this world is in..you just dont know who to belive anymore...take my walkman it worked ok for a week,,,not 100 percent though..i was just glad to have it as it seemed so rare...basically the logic system is screwy....and since cleaning the capstans with a cotton but i lost those washers....becaus the wernt the origional ones...plus the head was out of alighnment...wich i thought was just caused by dirty capstans..and pinch rollers...now it's a doorstop....i sure would love to send it back but i left positave feedback as it seemed to work ok for a few days

isolator42 - 2012-05-17 06:13

keep us posted, Reno...

radio.raheem - 2012-05-17 17:03

will do paul

brutus442 - 2012-05-18 20:17

Hey Reno,

Just a quick question. Did you check into the address the seller included with the laptop? Is it a front or a legitimate business? I'm amazed someone would be that forthcoming in their listing unless it's simply a ruse.

Like Paul said keep us informed.....

radio.raheem - 2012-05-30 12:57

Reno?

deliverance - 2012-05-30 13:56

radio.raheem - 2012-05-30 13:56

thanks guys....what have i learned.....only buy expensive items from people with no less than 100% feedback...otherwise they can scoot......im not kidding....with a score over 600 and only 2 negs i thought i would have been ok....obviously not....anyway thanks for all your help in this....especially to Retrodos who has helped me no end in this matter(even if you were an old member) everybody screws up from time to time

isolator42 - 2012-05-30 14:55

I would seriously suggest not using eBay to buy items costing this much that can be bought elsewhere.

Sometimes it's worth spendng a few quid more for some recourse if things go pear-shaped. For example, if buying something like this online, I'd go for Amazon & make sure the seller is "amazon.co.uk". Or go crazy & cut a deal in the real world of retail...

Anyway Reno, this all means you have a stack of cash burning a hole in your sky, does it not?

retro - 2012-05-30 15:03

Glad to hear that reno, the funny this is, I was actually considering the same purchase on ebay. Have you looked into Clevo or Sager?

radio.raheem - 2012-05-31 13:55

Thanks paul lad...there is no retail here...the town is dead...

dwayne im still looking for a laptop...but all i have seen are toytown compaired to alienware....i need something with good graphics and at least a 17"" 18"" screen my friend
