Paroxetine. (paxil).

litfan - 2012-09-05 14:59

Don`t know, if this type of post is allowed, but, i`ll go ahead. Has anyone ever taken this medication, then, tried to come off it? Believe it, or not, i have been on it for 20yrs. They have just realised, that it`s not working, so, they are trying me on something different. I started to come off it, last week, going from 40mg, down to 10mg. The doc, said, when i finished the paroxetine, my new tablets would be ready. Well, the doc, never let my surgery know, that he was changing my medication, hence, there were no tablets. Well, i was in a right state. I phoned my surgery, who told me to get in touch with the hospital doctor, and, get his secretary to fax through the details. She didn`t do it. Now, i have had to start weening off again. I am now, down to 10mg, and, i can tell. If anyone here has had experience with this, please, let me know how you went on.

My mother has been on various anti-depressants for the last 30+ years and I know from her that any sudden change in medication can be disastrous causing huge swings in mood.  The only way to do it is as gradually as possible over weeks rather than days otherwise the chemicals in the brain go ape. Hope it settles down for you as I know it can be a bitch of a place to be.

These things, should be banned. When they came out, they were the new discovery, then, when people tried to come off them, trouble. I remember, all the trouble, regarding seroxat, a few years ago.
