Not actually the original Walkman... That's actually the second one. Most people tend to get confused, the WM-1 was just the first to have the WM- designation. The TPS-L2 came a year earlier, and was the first to be called "Walkman".

I'll step in here if I may?  The WM-1 was actually the 3rd Walkman & the 2nd to be badged as 'Walkman', the WM-2 odd as it may seem was the 2nd.  Both launched in 1981 in fact 2 years after the TPS-L2.   I know it can be confusing

is there any such thing as a TPS-L1? not to add insult to injury, just to know why the first always seems to come second, at least with sony walkmans
