Router web page gone bonkers

nak.d - 2012-11-15 12:00

I've been trying access my routers set-up webpage - I know it should be http://192.168.1.1/www/StaLan.htm or http://192.168.1.1. These have worked in the past. But now all I get is the page constantly re-loading! As such the page is useless Anyone have any work arounds?

Who's your provider?

Is it an Orange Livebox

Try this, on your PC go 'start' then 'run' and type "cmd /k ipconfig /all" (inc spaces but not speech marks. The black window that then opens should tell you what your default gateway is, i.e. the correct address of your router rather than the default 192.168.1.1.  Use this instead, it may work.

HI Cris,

Not an Orange Livebox, just a regular router  - ISP is Talk Talk (I joined when they were Tiscali)...BTW I've tried IE and Firefox, same result!

I think with Windows 7 you need to tap the windows key.  Also, make sure you haven't got thousands of firewalls enabled

Daft as it may seem sometimes unplugging works wonders

nak.d - 2012-11-15 12:55

OK. The default gateway was 198.162.1.1. I know what you mean about unplugging stuff. I often have to change the lan port I use just to get the PC to talk to the router! In the end I cleared out the temp files and rebooted the browser (but not PC) and was able to access it. BTW Cris, good knowledge mate on the whole IP config thing. Some of the best customer support I've had recently To be fair this week Talk Talks service have been light years ahead of how they used to be!

Thanks buddy for info and quick reply
