BMX bikes!

lav.loo - 2012-11-29 12:43

my 8 year old lad wants a bmx for xmas and he wants a classic looking one lol.

managed to find a decent one in the argos catalogue that he likes.

it's all black and has mag wheels and stunt pegs ect, then i googled 80s bmx's and found some real bad ass looking ones from back in the day.

diamond back, mongoose and gt are but a few, even bikes were better back then lol, todays stuff has no style, what happened

Bought my son a nice looking bmx a few years ago and it looked good but was crap, way too heavy to do anything on

17kg is pretty heavy for a bike...

There is an 80s bmx company which has just come back from the dead, theyre making their 80s bmx again to the same spec, based about 1mile from where i live.  theyre called vincent frames, check them out!

I have a MK1 raleigh burner for sale, just needs wheels, would be a good father & son project, you can have for £65 if you like.  its true oldschool bmx.

just wait till bendycat turns up!  hes all about the bmx

i remember the raleigh burners nice bikes Andy, thanks for the offer on the frame but finding the wheels ect could be a bummer.

like the sound of the vincent company bringing back the bmx, sounds great

finding bmx wheels...  not hard man, so many options and theyre cheap.

lav.loo - 2012-11-30 09:51

that's good to know Andy, already ordered the bmx for delivery for his xmas prezzy but if the offers still there after the new year i might take it.

iv'e never built a bike from scratch so maybe a bit of a challenge lol

I can strip a bike down to its ball bearings and rebuild it...used to build bikes in my teens and still refurb the odd mountain bike here or there these days. And I bet there are loads of others on here who can do the same. So if you get stuck just post up the problem
