erniejade - 2013-01-03 07:48

My dog of 17 years was named Ernie.   My CB handle of my X GF was Jade.   When i tried to get an email address in the mid - late 90's  ernie was taken and so was jade so I put the 2 together and got erniejade for my email address and have basically used it for just about everything.

glen - 2013-01-03 07:59

Well Glen is my real name, i thought i'd keep it cause its easy for people to remember but i'd like to change it for GMan which i get called now & again by some friends.

ground.control - 2013-01-03 13:52

My name comes from my place of work which is a concrete blast bunker where we monitor three chemical reactors ,this is affectionately known as "GROUND CONTROL" amonge the workforce.

nak.d - 2013-01-04 06:24

My name derives from the fact I like expensive cassette decks and have little imagination.

redbenjoe - 2013-01-04 06:42

Leave the Goose alone, he can be very sensitive.

I forget where Agentorange came from but I can assure you it wasn't based on chemical weapons used during the Korean war.

Mine stems from when I used to race semi-pro for Orange mountain bikes here in the UK. Unfortunately it was pointed out to me recently that it was also the name for a contaminated herbicide used by the U.S. military in its Herbicidal Warfare program during the Vietnam War. Nice huh?

deliverance - 2013-01-04 07:59

nice stuff killed 400,000  over 500,000 babies born with defects first used in 62 targeted at crops .

Oh cripes, yeah, something like that.  I though about changing it but I didn't want to appear too vain.

brutus442 - 2013-01-04 15:30

Mine is more of tribute to the first (and best car) I`ve ever owned. A 1972 Oldsmobile 442. It was my freedom, freinds taxi service and all around abuse machine. I got it cheap and it was in rough condition, but it would never fail me and it never died. My friends named her, Brutus.

Money was short when I was a student so I went 2 years without any maintenance including oil changes. It burnt it but I`d just top her up once in a while....nothing else. A spare set of tires was all I paid for...and gas by the truck load.

I owned that car until I got married. Now I watch the Barrett Jackson auctions and see mint versions of this car going for $200,000

If I win the lottery, I`d be after one in a heartbeat!!!!! Below is a pic from the internet that looked like mine (colour wise) but was in FAR WORSE CONDITION

72Olds442

It`s the closet pic I could find of a Olds Cutlass 442 convertible in blue I could find.

Hence the name Brutus442!

ground.control - 2013-01-04 16:10

My first car was a mini van  this is much better

Keep in mind GC that  you have to imagine tons of rust, duct taped canvas top, AM only radio and lovely scorching hot vinyl seats with many cigarette burns. Not exactly top of the line! LOL.

It made one hell of a snow plow in the winter though...it could easily slice it's way through 1.5M snow drifts I was too lazy to shovel

johnedward - 2013-01-05 08:51

Gosh some of you have some really creative combo from different things, places or people for names.  I am much less creative John Edward is my first and middle name

Brutus awesome car to have as a youth.  My best friend still has his he got out of high school used from friends mom he knew.  Its Blue (orig. paint still and white conv. top still orig. hard to believe) and is very good condition overall and runs like a raped ape so to speak.  But OHHH the gas consumption of that 455 ci engine (7.5 liter)

My second car had in college was the sister to the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 it was the Buick Skylark GSX with 455 Hi Performance engine and 4 speed.  Could not pass a gas station but passed everything else   I practiced a lot of civil disobedience in those days.  Glove box full of tickets.  Was a 1970 that I bought in 1976 for $1700 USD.  Those were the days.

1970 Buick GSX

70 GSX

brutus442 - 2013-01-06 09:10

@John Edward...they don't make them like that anymore and never will. There's nothing like the idle rumble of a 400+ C.I.D engine to stir the heartrate.

The Buick is a classic John. I love the canary yellow.

I think you put it best John...Those were the days.

northerner - 2013-01-06 13:10

I'd like to say there was a clever reason behind my forum name, but there isn't...I'm just from the North

lav.loo - 2013-01-06 13:26

and here's me thinking you was a southerner Si

bison - 2013-01-06 16:12

ive been called bison since 1983,some confusion with my surname at school as a twelve year old and it stuck...

pioneer - 2013-01-13 17:08

It's weird how the name came about as i don't even own a pioneer boombox,i figured it this was as a teen growing up in the 80's with box's crusing the street's in ontario and myself being no exception to the game i to followed hitting the street's park's etc started out with my beloved first love which i still have to this day the Mona it is quite the boombox and in my area where i grew up i was the man, basically who had the baddest box around the neighbourhood, Thus PIONEER was quite fitting guess, i was a pioneer in my home turf to all my friend's the kid who had the coolest and the only one with that type of ghettoblaster of it's kind well for that part of town.

driptip - 2013-01-13 19:28
