AIWA HS-JX707

drmr2000 - 2009-11-06 20:34

The only portable unit (to my knowledge) that has a sexy girl voice

That's one nice Aiwa-love the fact it has a amorphous head and also PLSS and BBE.

Really excellent quality looking player Dr. Curious did it arrive in full working condition? How is sound on dolby c? Seems most of these I see on ebay always have technical problems with cassette player just radio works.

drmr2000 - 2009-11-09 16:24

Didn't work when I got it had to replaced the servo motor which was bad and the belt, and do alot of cleanup, this model also a dual rotor motor luckly had one from a bin unit, sounds very good, but to much bass, like the Sonys better.

I got one of these (Aiwa -JX707) in that box lot i bought off ebay. works perfectly Smile

rerooted - 2009-11-09 18:02

i almost forgot about that lot. how did they work out for you ? that was the most interesting group i ever saw on ebay.

philmurray - 2009-11-09 18:18

Worked out well, even got an Aiwa aniversary walkman in that lot LOL most need belts, a few are only good for parts. Am going to offer the panasonics up for anyone on the forum as im not a keen collector of those, sticking to Sony and aiwa myself Smile

drmr2000 - 2009-11-09 18:51

let me know what models the Panasonics are?

philmurray - 2009-11-09 19:00

Gidday all, the box lot of walkmans arrived. Majority of the sony and aiwa's need belts so nothing major.

Panasonics i know nothing about so will sell as untested

Panasonic models are as follows

RQ-SX11 X 2
RQ-S33
RQ-S50
RQ-S3
RQ-S40
RQ-X10

most look like they are good for parts only apart from the RQ-X10 which is one i have from my own collection but i dont collect panasonics so there ya go

rerooted - 2009-11-09 19:11

i like panasonics myself and own a few. i never had any luck with the couple i tried to rebelt. sony's on the whole are much easier to put a belt on to my surprise. i am crossing my fingers the ones i have last to a good long time on ther own.

I used to toggle thru "AM radio, FM radio, TV sound," plus pressing "Stop. Reverse Direction" on my JX707 just to hear that sexy voice.

Just wondering how you managed to get to the belt and motors underneath the PCB? There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to remove it.

You have to desolder the two "relays" one by the battery contact and the other by the lower rightside of the PCB board, then desolder the battery contacts and the servo motor, then you can left the PCB board.

plop - 2010-02-27 08:12

Sorry to be a bit thick, but when you say "relays" do you mean the ribbon cables as marked in red or the larger ribbon cable and the "relay" marked in green?

plop - 2010-02-27 11:08

Ok, I've now got a copy of the service manual and can see the points that are required to be desoldered. Smile

drmr2000 - 2010-02-27 15:25

Desolder the points shown in picture below. Also un screw two top screws that holds the controls in.
