i think that's a pretty cool item. any idea what year it came out ? how's the sound quality ? what kind of batteries does it use ? i'm just full of questions tonight.

mrp32dave - 2009-07-22 22:40

Yeah it is pretty cool, it's from 1982-1984, the sound quality is pretty good for a microcassette and it is quite loud, it takes 2 AA batteries.

Wow, never seen that case before, great styling.

mrp32dave - 2009-07-23 10:42

Yeah it's nice to find one with the case, I think Nicolle has one.

REALLY nice unique player. I have also never seen one. Have been shy about buying any micro cassette player/corders as was unsure of sound quality. I love to listen to all my players. How would you rat the sound compared to some of the mid to better model cassette players using like quality tape?. Not talking about DD9, DC2 category. Also what quality type of tapes available for micro's ?? Did they ever make Metal or Chrome this format.?

walkgirl - 2009-07-28 22:12

The sound quality is good!, for such a little walkman, but as it is so small it is not really
made for perfect quality I think Confused

They did make metal tapes!

The sound is great!, maybe the same as a tdk SAX tape, but more wobbly a bit

chrome I do not know, maybe there are some about!

The sound is slightly better than you would expect but it's not that great when you compare with mid-top level Walkmans. There are limitations when using such tiny componentry. It's fun though.

Thank you Nicole and AO for answering my questions. Yes I agree interesting little fun units. Have to keep my eye out for one. Anyone have a micro cassette favorite model?

mrp32dave - 2009-08-01 17:49

I think the sound quality is surprisingly good depends on how make the recordings, if you had one of the very hard to find "Hifi" microcassette decks then probably very good indeed I haven't got one Frown, so I use my favourite Olympus SW77, which has a very good line in.

i have one of those old micro recorders which i bought as junk to see what it was like. i took a look inside and now i know i will never buy one with a broken belt. the parts are very small and the counter belt looks to be only 2-3 mm. it was working but the other belt was either stretched or broken.
