What a relief, glad it turned out good.

Interesting unit too, not too sure I've seen one of these before.

Hi ya Dr. That is a superb looking EX1, love the blue. You really have to try some well recorded piano music as this player has the most warm smooth sound for Piano which I find most equipment just does no justice to live sound. This player is as good as I have ever heard for piano. Actually Porta Pro work well with this as they are not well on the high end which helps mask the hiss for dolby B on this unit cuts highs too much for me so listen without it. IF you use earbuds or orig. headphones it takes some of the warmth away. Try some George Winston or my most favorite peaceful calm take me away to another place Piano with additional instruments you must try Gary Stadler REFLECTIONS OF FAERIE the last two songs must be what heaven sounds like. Enjoy.
I have the WM-EX1HG chrome beautiful but a pain fingerprints always on it.
You can view the EX1HG end of first page following link and the EX2HG which came out 2 years after the EX1 ( HG was chrome)on page 3 of link. Some really good technical information on link for EX1. Of note my EX2 sound is close to EX1 but the EX1 still is champion with Piano for me. That is a great addition to your collection DR. Thank you for posting and the picture quality is excellent a real joy to see such a pristine working example.

Classical music always sound good on theses EX's they have the same tranports EX1 EX2 EX5 they sound so good because they use double bearing top and on the bottom on the capstans tape move more smoother. The best sounding unit is WM-550C very hard to find this model does 20-18,000hz using a EX AMORPHOUS HEAD and have Dolby B-C NR unit was built in 1987 the next best is WM-D6C.

i have the wm-fx1. i would assume it is the same as the ex-1 only with the radio addition. i have never messed with it as it has been working well for the almost 2 years i've had it. i think a belt problem should come soon just due to the age. i won it on ebay and had a devil of a time getting the seller to ship it. it's not mint but well cared for. the gold plating looks good with the metallic grey-silver body.

Got a silver EX1. I remember it for its pleasing midrange and upper midrange.
