The minidisc better then the ipod, sounds so much better, drums sound like drums Ipod sounds mudded on certain parts of the music. very good for recording, only thing that held it back was the software,Sony started to treat there customers like thiefs by not allowing you to tranfer your voice recording back on to you computer, and no 64bit OS support for the drivers. Trying to get a hold of the Hi-MD MZ-RH1 suppose to allow you to change you recording level while recording and does linear pcm instead of bitstream, it sound much better.

Love minidisc.
I had 3 players even before I started "collecting" this sort of stuff. I now have 35.
MZ-1 is amazing...so huge & ugly but in a good way, and to see how quickly Sony went from that down to the MZ-R55, and then MZ-E10

This is a good site to browse all the players that were available...although it may set you off on an ebay hunting mission
