Got these few weeks ago quite hard to find even more so with their stand, top bracket carry cord and intruction. The stand and top bracket usually get lost and you seldom see them together, these are from 1985 and look almost new obviously never used much or just really looked after, they were expensive when new.
Got these on Ebay £10 free postage bargain.













Here they are in use with WM-F107.

pic 8 and pic 9 what is that tubelar thing with the wire coming out of it, Is that a battery holder external for this?

I never had one of these [ solar walkmans ] ever.

so am not familar about them except what I have read.

Yes it is the external battery holder for 1 AA battery, it also has a internal non removal re-chargeable gumstick type battery this can only be charged via the solar panel, I use a halogen desk lamp for this.I replaced the internal battery in this one as the original was dead and leaking, the radio will work directly from the solar panel with no batteries, but needs very bright light.
