Greetings my friends around the globe. I have been very busy acquiring some treasures. I will start sharing more soon. Here I have a BOXED in excellent cosmetic and all functions working perfectly SHARP JC-AV1. This was built in 1986 confirmed with seller who owned since new. ONLY TWO CASSETTE WALKMAN models were ever MADE with a Telly !! Smile I am enjoying rather amazing clarity of sound right now listening to it playing Jonathan Livingston Seagull Neil Diamond. The tv works perfectly did get 2 stations still and quality is not bad but you need plenty of light coming through the LCD screen onto the mirror that you look at. Sunshine is best. Certainly a most rare unique novelty at the least.

Here is a German website that I have google translated with great information on this Sharp.

German Site

Add to my personal top-10 of the collection is one of these Sharp JC-AV1 from the year 1986. Not only because it is extremely rare and beautiful red color. There are probably several hundred thousand in the Walkman cassette player format, but only two models with built-in TV: The Sharp presented here, and the equally rare JVC CX-V9.

As one might expect, is the function of the Sharp TV more of a gimmick, because of any real value. After all, the passive display in black and white folding mirror technique, a diagonal of 63 mm and is surrounded by an elegant, brushed and polished metal plate. However: The contrast is still below the feared and a backlight apparently was not even offered as an option. Consequently, one needs to enjoy TV a task light, eg a bedside lamp, or simply the sun. Apart from the television receives JC-AV1 also broadcasts on FM (optionally in stereo) and medium wave. The cassette part has both a snap in forward and reverse, as well as an auto reverse function (direction) via a separate tip button. The side-mounted telescopic antenna is removable, this may instead be connected with some skill, an external antenna () 3.5 mm jack. In a modern sculpture of Sharp remembered when it is fully opened.

If my records do not deceive me, there's the device for the Japanese market too (?) In a version with Dolby B noise reduction as Sharp JC-TV10 - why the model designation was changed from there, "AV" in "TV" is probably a puzzles remain. These photos are from the JC-TV10 Paul Zurek, a calculator and walkman collector from Connecticut, USA. In Germany, to my knowledge, was, unfortunately, none of the models available. The above-illustrated embodiment JC AV1E (R) is designed for the UK market and therefore only receive TV programs in the UHF band (TV Standard "I"). The original Walkman TV from Sharp with 2 AA batteries weighs 340 grams Made in Japan.

Hi ya AO, what a AWESOME Red one you had , too bad you sold it. Yes my TV screen works actually very well. Only sad problem is in the USA as of Aug. 2009 all analog transmission over airwaves was changed to digital signal. So ALL older TV's, portables that receive signal analog by antenna get NADA nothing... damn Frown
I did manage to get a spanish station probably from Miami that did get a decent picture. Very hard to photograph due to reflections on screen . When viewing with eye you dont have reflection problem so picture looks ok. Have feeling if could get a good signal the picture quality is not bad at all for older LCD of 1986. Heres what I got at least does prove works.
