Nice 701s Big Grin

drmr2000 - 2010-03-26 12:50

Does that HS-JX3000 work ?

minty - 2010-03-26 15:43

Glad you like the 701s. As regards the jx3000, to get a working one is almost impossible. The tape function is not working. But i am soon to get a fully working 707, which i will switch the casings of the jx-3000 onto. I have done this with a previous 3000, but unfortunately the 707 i used turned out to be a lemon.

drmr2000 - 2010-03-26 16:05

I fixed those Js707 and Jx3000, belts on those always turn to goo, fix alot of them with the same problem. If you want me to fix it for you let me know.

minty - 2010-03-26 16:15

Cheers my friend, And thanks for the offer. If my 707 turns out to be a lemon, i will take you up on your offer.

now that somebody has mentioned gooey belts i have a question about them. i have only ever bought 2 players like that. i spent an hour just cleaning up the mess with alcohol and a que-tip. all the rest of the times they were brittle and stretched out. what happens to these belts to turn them to a oozy mess ? i always thought it was the environment but now i'm not so sure.

Arggghhh, you have a boxed 404, now that's quite a catch. Very envious indeed.

minty - 2010-03-27 06:47

Yes the 404 is very nice indeed. It is the only what you might call retro model i have. I think it dates from 1986. I was trying to sell it, but i have decided against it. To find another one in this condition would not be easy. It is fully functional.

johnedward - 2010-03-27 13:04

The F404 certainly is rare and in that condition/boxed do not sell that prize. But I believe with fair certainty that the 404 was produced in 1989 same year as the 701 series not in 86. Keep up the high standards of collecting.

minty - 2010-03-27 13:13

The panasonic is my favorite. Apart from the RQ-S80, in my opinion it is the best cassette player ever made. The SX series never interested me. The S series was the best.

ao - 2010-03-27 14:12

404 was made in 88, it was the last unit to be released using the WM-100 transport.
