That dutch football one looks familiar. I was bidding on an identical one on ebay, and the seller ended the auction early.

Seller has deleted auction because the player do not work.

I know because I sent him emails to ask why. Afterwards I made an offer to him.
A very good offer!

minty - 2010-06-08 22:46

Well done. Seems you deserved it more. You have a fine collection of these walkmans.

Totally cool collection. do you have the outback? and how does it fair to these gems?

rerooted - 2010-06-20 20:08

i just have one question and an easy one. did any one of them still have the same main gear that was the original. the only reason i ask this is because i bought a mint black one in the box that was probably an unused gift. the gear split open after about 2 minutes of running right in my hand. i was sad and mad at the same time.

ao - 2010-06-22 01:17

The problem with changing the main wheel inside the WM-F5 is 2 fold:

1. Unless you remove the waterproof screw covers carefully you will damage them and effect the cosmetics of the unit permanently.
2. Obtaining a replacement wheel.

I suggest not replacing the main wheel unless it genuinely affects sound quality.

as far as the screw covers go this i think would be the best solution. take a good sturdy streight pin and insert it right in the middle. gently, pry to any open side and work them out. before putting them back in use a hard drying rezin and fill in the pin hole and repaint the yellow and black which would be easy. the original color match wasn't perfect. the hardest part,if you want an A+ job is to not let your screwdriver slip and put a nasty scratch on the plastic. i messed up the gear on my black one but it is now a working retroplayer. a few cosmetic touchups and it will be kinda cool.

ao - 2010-06-23 07:15

There is a way to remove the screw covers, but you need to be clever. You need a very tiny sucker device, I found one at a dentist supplier, it's a bit hit and miss but it does work. Another solution is to use that gummy gunk they use to attach freebies to magazines.

i tried and tried but i couldn't find anything with quite enough backfource to pop them out. in the 80's they were probably an easy to find repair part as they were used in more than just those wm-f5's. the wm-f75 has them. they sure don't match in color anymore on that one.

vagabondsteve - 2010-06-26 13:48

... and so it is.. Love the photo! The "happy Buddha" has found Nirvana! LOL..

renzgi - 2010-07-04 01:36

Voilà, le bleu !

Hardly to find ,

Because most are faded ugly. Mine is still beautifully blue.

corry - 2010-07-06 00:44

Wow,

nice collection.

Very rare and hart to find Walkmen.

Respect !!!!

ao - 2012-06-08 03:28

Opened this one up again.

These are some of the rarest walkman's I've ever seen.

johnedward - 2012-06-10 09:18

The GLORIOUS WM-F5 the FATHER OF ALL SPORTS WALKMAN !!   And the FIRST with the DD drive system.  Sony went all out on this "FIRST" niche specific outdoor Walkman.  Renalto your "Complete " collection of all 6 in such pristine condition is a lifetime achievement.

Here is my KNVB WM-F5 in Orange certainly I think we all would agree is the rarest of the 6 colors to own.  One of the advantages of living in South Florida USA is going out to the back yard and just after a morning shower take a "WET" look photo of the WM-F5 sitting at the edge of the pool.  Enjoy.
