My Boxed Mint Sony DD9

coolcol - 2010-07-15 15:35

I may eat humble pie as not been a fan of the Sony DD series but most collectors say that the DD9 is a good one.

I think 9 is a lucky number of mine anyway as i was born on the 9th LOL

I found (bought) a mint DD9 with case and still has the direct drive sticker on the window with headphones and manual and box too. It works brilliant with superb sound (i am eating humble pie Roll Eyes)

Even though basic in comparison of other late 80s to 90s walkmans, i must admit it does sound good.

Corry, what on earth are you looking at?

toocool4 - 2010-07-16 09:07

Nice find, to me it’s one of the best looking design Sony Walkmans.

I have one, but in terms of sound quality I prefer my D6C and DC2’s.

My dd9 does also have a serial number Cool Smile

walkgirl - 2010-12-10 21:56

Where can we find that number?

tuna - 2010-12-19 03:09

Hi Dottor!¨Can you tell us a little about the differences? Also, are there any differences between DC2 with a lower serieal number and a DC2 with a higher number?

dottor.walkman - 2010-12-19 06:38

Hello Tuna, yes, there are differences. Usually the walkman with the serial number lower have the slightly robust construction. While the electronic point of view the Walkman series with the highest number of updates that have not, however, always positive. On DC2 I can not say much, I only have 3 even though I have repaired many do not I have had the opportunity to see major differences. On DD9 and D6C, however, there are several differences. The weight changes slightly. These are the two I use most walkman and on which I performed many UP GRADE. I also have several examples of the different series.
Hello Nicole, I'll gladly see the pictures of my DD9, as soon as I bought the camera. Only I do not have only a DD9 but I have nine, all with slight differences. Want to see photos of all nine? I take this opportunity to ask for advice to Nicole as to the other members. After several research I decided to buy a camera Panasonic DMC TZ10 or TZ8. Think that is suitable for making of macro photography of small details within the walkman? I would like to take pictures on my service upgrades and repairs, and publish them on the forum.
Nicole, please, tell me the serial number of your DD9? If you tell me some news to tell you more about your DD9. For example, you know that there are dd9 with the dark arrows FF e REV and you see only the red lit circle and dd9 with clear arrows FF and REV that you see almost all of the illuminated arrow?

I will try to find it and tell you Smile

tuna - 2010-12-19 11:01

Hi Dottor!

Like all Panasonic Lumix cameras of the latest generation, TZ10 will be a fine choice for you. Macro mode is good and if you don't want to use manual settings, automatic mode works really good on the Panasonic cameras.

I am really anxious to see your modified DD9 and D6C! Regards!

Tuna Hello, thank you for your insurance. I waited several months to find a good camera at a good price. There is a modification that I was asked by a member of stereo2go for a couple of months. the customer is waiting for me to take pictures to the change of his walkman. I must thank you very much for the patience that is having .

No problem! If I didn't have a Canon already, I would definitely buy a Lumix. Panasonic was average when they started out but now they god much better and in terms of compact cameras, I think they are amongst the best.

toocool4 - 2010-12-21 14:50

Hey Tuna how you doing?

I have a Panasonic Lumix LX2 it’s not bad but I find the Panasonic a bit noisy (Digital noise). I just tried the new LX5 as I wanted something better than the LX2 I have to say the noise management is a bit better, but the colour is not as good and the image is softer not as sharp. They have reduced the noise at the expense of everything else.

I would not recommend a Panasonic. I compared the LX2, LX5 and the Canon PowerShot S95 at the same time taking same pictures in RAW format I have to say the Canon is the better camera at that size and price.

I like to have a compact in my bag all the time for snaps but my main Cameras are Canon EOS 1N and 1V which are Canon’s top of the range film cameras. As you can tell i still prefer analogue Cameras, nothing in the digital world comes close.

tuna - 2010-12-22 09:05

Hey man! I'm fine thanks! Very stressed out because of the work we have before holidays but it could be worse. How about you?

I think this is an off-topic here LOL but never mind. I like the Panasonic for the automatic mode as in my experience it is better suited to low light conditions than the Canon. With manual settings, Canon has the advantage (I have the G11). Also, I like the fact the Lumix has a wvery wide angle lens and that makes for superb panoramic shots, quite cinematic and I would buy the Lumix even if this was the only advantage. However, I do find the menus a little more complicated and the Canon feels more organic and more straightforward when you need to take a picture fast. I think my next one will be a Lumix unless Canon finally puts out a f2.0 wide angle lens that will work on higher magnification factor than 1x. Those are nice cameras you got thereSmile That's pretty amazing! Always wanted to try one of those out but I never considered myself good enough to invest in such equipment. I am just plain lazy!

Regards!

toocool4 - 2010-12-22 12:06

Hey I’m fine thanks and looking forward to the Christmas break.

I’m not so sure about Panasonic and low light as it generates even more digital noise. I have used my LX2 in concerts where I have had to hide the camera since no pictures are allowed. In these low light conditions the digital noise is so noticeable.

Yes a faster maximum aperture would be nice but must compacts don’t have it.

I’m going to keep looking for a good compact, the Canon S95 would have been perfect but it lacks a proper viewfinder. I miss not having a viewfinder, mush better than LCD screens which you can not see in bright sunlight.

toocool4 - 2011-01-12 08:44

Hey guys Tuna I know it’s still going of subject but have you seen the Newly announced Olympus XZ-1, now this looks amazing on specs alone. F1.8 lens wow that is the fastest I’ve seen on a compact. If this compact performs well with excellent noise management I want one.

radio.raheem - 2011-04-12 21:14

I want that boxed dd9 I pay 2 grand if only lol
