Wow!! very nice. I have a blue one with a black case. Your unit is in much better condition than mine. Those headphones are sweet. How's the sound quality on this player?

Great find!!

It sounds very nice and the radio is superb, it does look almost unused.

Dave you continue to amaze me and add such "GEMS" to your already excellent nearly all high quality players. This is a grand unit. I have one but no box or HP and not pristine like yours. Truly a joy to see such items still out there to be found. You are to be considered a blessed and lucky hunter of fine walkman.
This is one of my favorite older Panny's very well featured for its time and nice spread out layout of controls.

I never liked the big old clunky transport that panasonic used in their lower range models but this one is nice. I think it's the subtle brown and green tones.

I have the RX-2700 which as far as I can tell is the same but enlarged to make room for the internal speaker.

If I were honest, the headphones are the best bit, never seen a pair of surviving RDs before.

Cris the RD's are very nice I have 2 pairs of these RD-9217's, the other pair came with my very nice RX-2700 wrong headphones for the 2700 but nice to have I think the black foams may be original to the 1950 looking at the picture in the manual might swop them.

i have had that model for a good while. i think right now would be a good time to give it a test run. it has been quite a while since i,ve played it. i recall it is a good bit above most in sound quality but so was the original price. it was an ebay buy for around the 27.00 range which seemed to be a great buy.

Hi all,

I'm actually now here. I found this post researching for info about a Panasonic RX-1950 unit I just received inherited. Unfortunately it lack of headphones. It tape and radio seem to sound nice, but I'm not an expert. I haven't tryed the recording function yet.

I wish to know how old may it be, just the production years would be ok. How much could it be worth? Would it be possible to acquire a headset for this unit like this one shown above? then where? (Please, notice I live in Spain)

A warm welcome to you Fernando. You have a very nice condition example of this player.   I recently sold my RX-1950.   Value is approx. 60-85 Euro in good working condition including recording function would be my guess.  Finding original headphones is a near impossibility as sadly it is the one item that over time people throw away or lose but the Walkman gets put in a drawer or closet and survives time.   From my experience the only way you will find original headphones to match this model is finding a boxed unit that is complete with all accessories which is very very rare to find on model this old.

You asked about age this model was made in 1982.  I have a topic detailing most of the first 6 years of Panasonic Walkman at following link.

Hello John,

many thank for your answer, I found it really helpfull. I will try to find some retro-looking headsets similar to the originals, enough if they are good quality.

By the way, my wife's aunt show me some of the recorders she used while she worked as journalist. What can you tell me about them? She suggested me to sell them off. Both worh fine, but I don't think they are much worth. You can find some pics following the URLs:
