very nice, indeed !

looks like you're collecting them for the size !

tranxmetal - 2008-03-31 18:09

Good idea! may be I will do the same with my Walkmans, looks very good to catch the attention of every person who is entering my house. And looks like a good job like yours is not much expensive, the lights create a dramatic effect in a dark room or not?

milosancho - 2008-03-31 20:49

Thanks, Tranxmetal! It does look very cool in complete darkness. But sadly, outside of this forum, there are not many who appreciate the coolness of it. Razz
It was cheap to build. Total project was less than $50 I'm sure. I'd like to make another one sometime soon. Just need to find the right case.

Isn't that the truth. Laugh Out Loud I wonder how much message boards like this feed the desire to collect. Beyond the ability to provide information on models and make trading easier. I am talking about the desire to collect just to be able to post a picture so that your "peers" are impressed. I would have to say that must play a big part. I know I can't wait to be able to post my small collection when my room is done. Laugh Out Loud (but don't get me wrong.. it is cool... just to a smaller number of people. And that number of people never includes first-dates!) Cool

There may be some truth to your statements, 71spud. Would I have build this case if there wasn't a forum with whom to share it? Perhaps. I'm just glad there is such a place as this. And no doubt it feeds my desire to collect more and more walkmans.

Milo I tend to think most people would find our collecting of Walkmans and boomboxes weird. Nothing wrong with it, everybody has their thing that only they and a small group actually appreciate. That's why this site is so cool, we can share with others who do enjoy it.

That being said there are many of us who dig your display. Nod Yes

Nice work Milo. Impressive indeed! Big Grin

i dig that display, and believe me (...somebody who's inside walls are covered with boomboxes, walkmen etc.), there's not only boardmembers who dig it, even many of your friends do that, even if they would never admit it !!!

Wow!!! Milo, beautifully displayed, Have you made it out of an ordinary bookshelf, what is the depth of the shelf?
Have you got any secure fixings there?

Very impressive...

milosancho - 2008-04-05 21:38

Thanks, gedcom. The inside measurements are 48" wide x 10" high x 2 3/4" deep. This was actually a golf club display case, not a bookshelf. The walkmans just sit on an aluminum shelf that is at a slight angle. I do worry about loosing them all to a quake. But if and when we do have the big one here in California, I would have bigger worries.

Here's a close-up of the shelf.
