Sharp VZ 2000 Broken sliders wanted

bredgeo - 2011-08-21 07:02

Hey yall,

I will trade one for one....

THAT IS, I will make you a resin repo VZ 2000 slider for one of your broken ones...

Lat me know.

Later,

Brian

davebush - 2011-08-21 10:55

Hey Bri....can you make me any sharp gf 777 rear cover screws

bredgeo - 2011-08-21 16:35

I don't have the tools to make some... but I might have a few here, somewhere... MIGHT...

I will have a look.... Take a pic of one so I can see.

scottym - 2011-10-27 00:48

Instead of making a new thread...

How does one replace the sliders.  Do they just push down into position or do they have to be glued?

Scott

bredgeo - 2011-10-27 02:19

Hey Scott,

Push them in place... But first, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO PIECE OF THE OLD SLIDER BROKE AND STUCK IN THERE!

Later.

undertheradar - 2011-10-27 02:29

Hi Brian

I have some in tact sliders but loads missing, I've a couple of VZ-2000's and VZ-2500's can you produce multiple copies? If you can how much?

Thanks

bredgeo - 2011-10-27 02:46

Hi,

I can produce as many as there is resin in the world ()! I don't paint them any more (my stuff is back in France and I am in Ireland).

So, I ask $5US for the standard size knobs and sliders (which the VZs' knobs and sliders are).

Now, if you have a few 2000 sliders I will trade one for one (I mainly need the big at this time).

Talk to you later,

Brian

motion32 - 2011-10-27 11:17

bredgeo - 2011-10-27 12:12

Later,

Brian

scottym - 2011-10-27 14:04

Bredgeo,

And what about taking sliders off a machine to put them on another?  Do they just pull off?  I want to avoid breaking them.

Scott

scottym - 2011-10-27 14:06

Also bredgeo, i'll be needing some sliders at some point too.  But i have a complete set out of two machines.

bredgeo - 2011-10-27 14:31

You got a full set out of 2 VZ!!!!! COOL!!!!!!!!

If not, to the taking them off of one VZ to but on another... Yes you can do that. BUT BIG BUT... Sharp used some shitty-ass plastic to make those sliders (with time they became glass braking type-plastic)... So, GO SLOW! And do not woble back and forth... Pull straight up, DO NOT USE any metal tool -no matter how small- just your fingers, and ONLY from the middle... DO NOT try to pull out by grabing and pulling from each end THEY WILL BRAKE!!!

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

scottym - 2011-10-27 16:21

Thanks bredgeo...i will tread carefully.

Okay, bredgeo...how does one remove the prong of the slider that's broken off and stuck in the machine? :S

I would say with a small pin (paperclip) or 2 -one to each ends.... Heat it/them push down, let cool and pull slowly but firmly -might take a few tries!

bredgeo - 2011-10-28 03:21

OH.... And what are you doing with the broken large slider???????????

scottym - 2011-10-28 15:05

Trading it with you for 6 large and 2 small so that i have 2 complete sets, obviously!

Seriously though, you can have it.  This might be a stupid question, but what do you do with them...wouldn't you already have a mould that enables you to produce endless copies?

And as for the advice...didn't even think of that! Awesome.  But would it be better to use something with a thread so that once it's heated and pushed down into the broken tab, it's got a better grip?

You are a genius my friend.  Got them all out!

More than welcome for the advice...

If not, I will give you 2 free sliders for that one....

And I am trying to make a 3D portrate of the sliders I make but, with "Originals"! The fact that the end is broken is okay, that won't be visible.

Later!

Hey ye!!!

True, the sound could go louder, but only on tape... It would be fricked if it was to loud on LP.

Sherman tank it is!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I do not know where you can get the cover... Patients would be the word!!! If not the bolt for the tape door, if you do not find one before, I can make... But it will not be until May/June.

And the sliders, do you want a full set? PM me and we can talk about that.

Brian

sazeus - 2012-03-26 17:56

Hey bredgeo,

I'm in the market for a full set of sliders for one vz 2000.  I have a full set plus one small of broken ones that I can send your way.  I'm also missing one power button.  Any ideas how I might remedy that? Not sure if it's inside there or not.

Thanks dude,

Sean

sazeus - 2012-03-26 18:55

The turntable belt needs to be replaced and I thought I'd test to see if the tracking one does as well.  I put an EP in there and the cartridges got a third of the way in then jammed.  Now it's humming trying to get back to the start. What would you do to help it along? Or should I just leave it until my new belts arrive and sort it out once taken apart?

Sean

bredgeo - 2012-03-27 00:06

Hey Sean...

I will got back to you on the sliders via PM, If not... For the arm stopped in the middle of the LP, the fact that you need to change the belts... You can open it up now to get to know the insides... But, now... That is up to you!!!! If you decide to open it up now, take pics as to not forget what goes where!

Hi All

First post and all that so a big HI to all. I have been restoring my own vz2000E which was sat in my parent loft for a lot of years and just got dug out a few months ago. Most bits working now but I also have the missing sliders set problem.

@bredgeo - Can you provide me with a full set of sliders kind Sir. Prepainted would be even better since I am a total duffer at paint small things but great on painting on windows in error

Thanks in advance

Uncle Les in the jolly old UK

rickrock - 2012-07-12 20:25

hi bredgeo!  what would  you charge for a complete set of  all the sliders shipped to the USA?

bredgeo - 2012-07-12 23:08

Hey... A slider is a 5euros and the registered shipping is a 7.05euros

PM me if this is okay for you!

KNOW THAT: The sliders will not be finished, so I always ad a couple so you can work on them (or have them worked on).
