SONY TC-D5 Pro II, the most extraordinary portable deck

walkman.archive - 2012-06-25 03:06

Hi there,

I recently got one of this decks and I'm pretty impressed about it's quality. It surpasses any other gadget I ever seen (probably in my entire life) in terms of build quality.

the front design is simply beautiful:

I think it's VU meters looks so cool, indeed:

The attention paid to every detail is simply impressive:

As this 'walkman' is targeted to do high quality recordings, it has XLR mic connectors and very high quality amplifiers for them:

The sound is awesome, matching the better decks I ever heard (like the D6C):

It came with a beautiful case:

That allows you to change the tape without removing it:

It's a big player, much more than a D6C. It's so curious that, as Bub said, the D6C looks cheap when it's side by side with this magnificient D5.

Hope you enjoy!

yep,

the pro2 is another level than a d6c= building quality.

if you have a balanced TT or cd-player, you can record "balanced" tapes.

unfortunate it's recording quality isn't that well.

balanced has wider/"bigger" sound, is also better in the lows than rca. that's why i bought a pro2.  but for recording tapes, a balanced deck, eg studer, will be a better option.

another level sound and building quality, unfortunate i don't have one, nagra or stellavox

One thing that the TC-D5 Pro II fails in comparison is that the TC-D6C can record metal tapes as well as record with Dolby C. But the former can record ferrichrome tapes as well as having more outputs for connecting to amplifiers.
