Sony WM-R 15 with original headphones

blasterfan.jens - 2012-11-16 09:03

Sony WM-R 15 super rare with original headphones are built where the Micros would blaspheme a great spy device next to you about it and you think you hear music while you draw any word on

This unit ,at first glance, seems to be all plasticky and cheap....the insides aren't bad at all though. But for me personally it isn't the unit that is fascinating it is the binaural microphone headphones for true 'binaural' recording ....recording ambient sounds in a way that can be truly enjoyed in almost truthful splendour by using the ears(the pinnae) to reflect sound onto the microphones almost the way the ear actually receives these sounds for hearing.
Binaural recording is an art or I probably should say 'was' in view of modern developments...but these headphones have been used in acoustic studies and such....so if you get tired of yours drop me a PM
My boxed mint unit is safe with my dear friend Agentorange and I am lucky to have another ...but this is one walkman....strike that .....one set of earphones I wouldn't think twice about possessing in multiples ! A SURE KEEPER ! Enjoy!

Is this a JDM unit?  Will it accept the ctp-1a tuner pack?

johnedward - 2013-01-06 08:14

This unit is one of the 5 Sony players that had a JDM version.   I have a red one with the CTP-1A tuner pack.   Almost ALL R15's will not play the CTP-1A tuner pack and are not JDM versions.  You will know if this is a JDM version if the brass 6 pick up power strip is inside players tape cassette area to side at end where head is.

Link to Topic on Sony JDM versions for tuner pack.
