It more likely going to need more then a belt the reels clutch gears like to crack on those, no reliable way to fix them, due to the small size of the gear that cracks.

I have this one as well! Lots of trouble,more than just belts!

Isn't it odd that this has some very similar features to the Aiwa models of the period
