arrive and alive : Siemens "Melodie RM 808"

another "beside sony and aiwa" thingy arrived yesterday. siemens is well known for its products all over the world. but not really for small devices like blasters or cassette players. today, they build washing machines and other products for kitchen, etc... oh and ofcourse, that fujitsu siemens cheapo notebooks..

this is something i found. its an 80s fatty with radio, anti rolling, hi and low tone switch and balance volume.

what is remarkable for me: arrive, switch, alive ... like new o.O ... no wobble, no jittering, everything`s fine. i found a website, which showed a pic from 1984.

so i cleaned the head and pinch roller, there was a lot of dirt on it, so its not NOS or near mint. but still runs fine, sound is nice . i got it with earphones and a grey plastic bag with strap, which is way to ugly to show it ...

cassette door has no slide in for cassette, it looks like my D6C...

nice clunky chunky buttons.

all in all it`s a nice and solid device. runs like a tank. yesterday i put it into my field jackets pocket (the only breast pocket which can hold this fatty without looking ridiculous), and walked through the rain to the post office... radio was fine, no wobbling through walking. fatties are usualy not, what i prefer, but this grey and conservatetively thing is a really nice difference to the last two "nerve stretching with lousy belts" sony and grundig, which are much more well known quality audio brands than this...

Rather nice piece. It reminds me of certain Sanyo models (they manufactured models that became Fisher and maybe others)...many Walkmans were I believe made like this. Could be an original Siemens design though. Good score gearwheel
