Finally a Boodo Khan!

Yes, finally I was lucky to snatch a loose unit from the local MP auction.

Got it first hand from the actual owner who bought it back in the days. Nice fellah.
Too bad he threw away the headset.

It's quite a sensation when you switch on DOL... suddenly whoom! the low tones rushes in.

What is a local MP auction, and where can One be found?

Congrats. The Boodo Khan is a small piece of history, and one of the most desired models everywhere.

But seeing your photo, I frankly don't think the best way to fell it's quality is to plug into  a pair of small desktop speakers.

I suggest you to use high quality headphones... but, hey, the quaity of the recording and the tape matters too!

As said, congrats.

THnx.

MP is a bidding website for the Netherlands only.

Indeed I need a pair of good headphones. Which ones would you suggest?

walkman.archive - 2013-02-28 13:48

It depends on many things: you want them for home, or portable, open, closed, neutral...

If you want one closed, circumaural (bogger than ear), neutral, with very high quality.. and reasonably cheap, i suggest you the Sennheiser HD280 Pro.

thnx for your tip. Do you know a good less bulky one?

Yes congradulations on this fine addtion to your collection.  It truly is a sensation very few Walkman can impart when you switch on DOL with such great clean boost of low AND  high frequencies.

As for headphones there are many here more qualified than I.   I have modest means to buy the best so the ear buds or headphones that are Hundreds to Thousands are out of my reach.  I use a older Headphone the Sony MDR-V6 which is still made new today and can be had for $60 to 100 USD I think check ebay.  Do know that if you can find the original release versions that were drivers/headphones were mfg. in JAPAN the sound quality is better than newer ones made in China.  You can buy aftermarket replacement ear pads with velour or other material that makes longer times wearing cause less sweating /heat over ears and scalp.   For ear buds I use the orig. ones that came with the Sony WM-DD9 or Sony D-88 CD player and some other higher end Walkman earbuds that I have that go with Walkman in my collection.  Ear buds or in ear units the sound quality is somewhat dependent on fit within your own ear which is very different for us all sadly.

Ah yes, the boost is definitely very clean and well balanced, no particular sound canceling at all.

I have the original earbuds of my WM-DD9, Gonna try it out at home.

I might have a look at the sony MDR-V6. Thnx for the tip.
