deliverance - 2012-04-27 02:12

i turned down £250 ! probably pulls rabbits out of a hat for a living

ao - 2012-04-27 02:46

Never got the attraction of these Crowns. I always though these were a sub-quality Boots brand with loads of brushed plastic and cash saving-based compromises.

ghettoman - 2012-04-27 03:49

yes these are pretty cheapo creeky light weight empty boxes,i used to see them on market stalls brand new for £79,along side kettles and toasters and other kitchenware ect (i should have bought them all) they are cheapo but surprisingly they dont sound too bad,i was using mine last night while i was changing my bedroom around..

the sad thing about them is that they have to be in constent daily use because if you leave them for any lenth of time, all the sliders and switches dirty up pretty quick..

del,i did'nt know what you meant then but i just looked and seen the question at the bottom,he turned down £250 sheets, the man is insane,if the person that offered £250 is reading this, gimme a shout, you can have mine for that, and she is a minter !!

oh notice on the auction theres loads of bids,But all the bids are private..the auction stinks like a horses arse..

yea there crap agent....gave my last one away a couple of days ago....a paper weight with speakers.....they do sound ok tho....better than a gf9000....but the gf 9000 is much better constructed and louder

ghettoman - 2012-04-27 04:38

yep i agree man,the 9000 is made 1000 times better than the crown..i'm still after a good example unisef but i aint going mental with my money for one,i do like them but i can take them or leave them..

They are popular because they allow people to pretend they own a Lasonic.

That might be the case but hasn't the Lasonic got the build quality of Pez dispenser?

bison - 2012-04-27 10:33

i would have thought they all belong to the same company, lasonic, unisef crown, how can one brand be better unless it has better internals,

the unisef sounds ok but is built like an airfix model

Not at all.

True, they don't have great build quality, but they sound way better than that Crown.

brutus442 - 2012-04-27 12:12

based on that lovely in-focus picture included with the auction, I'll buy it...

Here's the money...

euro

ghettoman - 2012-04-27 12:37

Bison lad,can i call bagsy on your unisef lol,i have the same one but my tuner croaked it..she's a minter aswell..

As for the crown/lasonic saga..i'm with reli on this, the crown/unisef is complete toytown compared to the lasonic, the lasonic feels solid and well built, and has nice deep bass..the only thing they have in common is looks, build quality is totally different..

I'll buy the crown,i'm loaded,if you dont beleve me,heres my cash, and dont worry theres alot more where that came from...

i like the unisef beanieman,i never liked them when they were released but now they are a guilty pleasure,

if i ever pass it on mate its yours

radio.raheem - 2012-04-27 15:23

ok maybe lasonic is better...but just the name........its like having it off with sombody named after your mum........ewww lol....id take my crown 970 all day long over any lasonic....sorry beaniman...i know you like em

bison - 2012-04-27 16:14

so crown etc bought the rights to make them and skimped on the build quality etc,

i dont get it..they are a cheap box

the lasonic i seen on pawn stars didnt look any better..it was falling to bits,

i will take your word on the subject though beanie man i know you know your stuff

radio.raheem - 2012-04-27 16:35

thats probbly what happened bison crown uniceff sound better names...but crown have always made junk....even the crown 850 light as a feather but it does sound nice....better than these cheap plasticy things....the thing that spoils the 850 no handle...whats the point....the 970 is by far the best thing crown ever made.....wonder why there is so few.....maybe it was a limited edition

i mean there is the crown 980 too but thats just a better copy of the 850

the 970 is truly in a world of it's own

i will say it again reno..crown made a 777 wannabe.. i sold one ten years ago on ebay for £25..it too had no handles, white tuning scale and twin vu`s,

it definately wasnt one of those cheap lookalikes that you see.. the speaker set up was different..baffled

radio.raheem - 2012-04-27 17:12

dont think iv ever seen that one lad....no handle...usless imho

think i have said bfore the 970 takes ten d's soft operation...and is compairble to the m90....i actually thought it had better bass....now im to scared to use it....as i think the righthand channel is going to blow......beaniman repaired the left....its my only big retro boombox left.....it looks so much better than the m90...ill plug it in...in a few days see what happens

beanie...come back slag me off do what you like...all is taken back

ghettoman - 2012-04-27 18:23

ha ha its no probs man..i know the lasonics are better quality than the crown unisefs because i used to have a Trc931 a few years ago,and now i've got a Trc975,and i also have a crown and a unisef, just my unisef has a dead tuner,so it was either try to fix mine which might be a pain,or just make it easier for myself and get another..

reli - 2012-04-28 11:06

I don't think Crown made their own stuff.......Each model was made by someone else.  That's why one Crown could have totally different quality than another Crown.

As for handles, what is so difficult about using a shoulder strap?  Makes for easier carrying IMO.  The only benefit to a handle is in lifting it from one room to another.  But for carrying it great distances down the street, a strap is better.
