Hmm, that's OK with me, because I wouldn't take a 3-piece box outside.  Kinda heavy & cumbersome, plus they wouldn't get as much "respect" as a classic 1-piece.

claret.badger - 2012-04-23 09:15

I have one and I love it - an ESSENTIAL boombox if ever there was one
the optional battery box is out there somewhere!

davebush - 2012-04-23 11:40

Is it the TECHNICS name that people want........put a panasonic badge on it and hey ho

claret.badger - 2012-04-23 11:43

Panasonic badge is your badge of quality

It's my brand of choice

i'd love a Panasonic RS 4360 for instance

ghettoman - 2012-04-23 13:04

a while ago i used to see these sac05 going dirt cheap because of the no battery,i agree this is a nice box but at £310,thats an absolute no chance for me,cant pay, wont pay !!

mitchelljames - 2012-04-23 13:10

I havnt read the whole listing, does he mention its ac only??

undertheradar - 2012-04-23 14:37

SHARP GF-8989 stereo cassette recorder boombox GHETTOBLASTER 80's NR (#190581140396)£255.00

He's either bloody lucky seller or someone's bidding up his auctions?

ghettoman - 2012-04-23 16:02

the technics sold for an outragous £410, never seen anything like it,last one i saw on ebay was a few weeks ago, sold for way less than £100,its a 3 piece aswell, alot of people dont rate 3 piecers,i personally dont care the difference,i like all boxes, but £410 for a portable that aint even portable due to not taking batteries, bigtime no thank you,if they want something that does'nt take batteries why did'nt they just buy a hifi, coz thats what it really is..a hifi with a handle..

reli - 2012-04-23 17:16

£410?  That is almost $700.

Some crazy buyers lately....

I wonder if they even have any retirement savings, or education fund for their kids...

ao - 2012-04-23 22:41

There is so much deceit on eBay these days but those who take the effort with their photography seem to have the edge.  Nothing is more honest than a decent pic or two.

claret.badger - 2012-04-24 04:06

this Technics DOES take batteries

but you need the optional clip in container

Yes it is the black box looking thing it one of the pictures.......

ghettoman - 2012-04-24 05:14

yes i agree and i'm aware it can take batteries, but the only thing that was with this box was the mains unit block, the battery box came seperate, its the same as the JVC DC33L and Sony FH series, but whats the chances of finding a battery unit for the technics ?

Anyhow, far be it from me to say £410 was a high price,i just hope the buyer is happy..

but i wont be surprised or shocked if it gets relisted, like alot of his stuff has in the past..

NOT SO - that is the AC pack

hth

radio.raheem - 2012-04-25 17:40

410 for a 3 peice with no battry pack.....laughing out loud.....bet he is all the way to the bank....my best 3 peice cost £5....now if the technics sounded as good as it...she would be worth every penny

ghettoman - 2012-04-25 18:18

My point is man, this is £410 for basically a hifi with a handle, its too expensive because its mains only, cant take batteries,so again, its just a hifi with a handle,if i wanted a hifi i would buy something alot nicer than that for alot less cash..than again, even if it could take batteries, theres still no way i would pay £410 for it,infact,i would'nt even pay half that..

Exactly lad...bang on.....least my 3 peice knocks any box i have heard on it's back...it's more like the kaboom with extra clarity.....that's why i can live selling all those boxes...i have found my perfect box, i don't care what it's worth.....if i break it (oops its already broken) i can buy a dozen more and not worry about getting a mortgage to buy the damn thing.....the only box i'll miss is the 1000...damn...and it takes battries too

bods1 - 2012-05-05 11:26

Always wondered how this guy can list all his stuff and get absolute crazy prices for most items, if you paying so much for the items where ever he buys from, you then have ebay fees and paypal, so you need to make so much money on each item, you are always gonna take a loss on many items, so seems very strange he gets these prices

So many bidders with low feedback etc and when there is another model the same on, not one person that bid on his bid on the next one listed, which makes me very sus about him

I even sent a message and he was going on about, it's not my fault people bid so much, I can't control the price. So I said well you could if you shill bid like half the other people on ebay.

Lately me and the girlfriend have bid on quite a few items to find out they are shill bidders, just unblievable how many people are doing this now

Ebay is full of fraudsters and dealers, not much genuine items people are selling now that they no longer want

bods1 - 2012-05-05 11:31

I did wonder if people were bidding because they thought it had a battery box, I thought the same too, till i looked at the picture and then saw the hole were the transformer box was taken out for the picture

I love mine with the huge technics subwoofer i sit it on, I won't be selling the one I have now, I just love Technics stuff and some of the cool old 80's systems and speakers that they made

Nice powerfull box, I must try it connected to my Honeycombe flat SB-X100 speakers sometime, I think it will surprise people how good the quality is, those speakers on the boombox probably ain't the best models around

radio.raheem - 2012-10-27 07:35

What's this boombox like????? just bought one of ebay with battery pack....from what i have read...not that good

northerner - 2012-10-27 09:32

It was you then! Was watching this one as it was looking like it might not go too high but it did the usual last second madness. Had a lot of technics stuff in the 80's so was gonna give it a punt but went too high for me. Minty looking box tho, hope it's a goodun

radio.raheem - 2012-10-27 10:09

Thanks si.....it might be a gudd'n as they say it sound's better than the m70

but to be honest that isn't hard to achieve .....what im worried about i couldn't see no battery pack on the auction...if it doesn't have one im not interested and the guy can realist it on the bay....i have asked but so far no responce

radio.raheem - 2012-10-27 12:38

It has the battery pack....this must be rare...looking forward to her now

northerner - 2012-10-27 13:03

Brill, nice one. Let us know how it sounds

What 3-piece do you have which knocks any box you have heard?

Sounds great I would like to know!

Every 3-piece I have herd sounds "boxy" to me, except my Tosh WX-1..

I dont get it,

Looking at that Technics box it is VERY hard to imagine it being much good,

as it looks Very cheap plastic, and small speakers, so sorry if I am insulting anyone.

Also,

for its size category, and "type" of box,

I would think it very hard to beat the sound of an m70,

I herd boxes with different strengths,

Some had nice mids but not matching in bass or FM Tuner sound quality.

The few that could surpass an m70 overall were of larger size.

In fact the only box I have now that can surpass its tuner quality and sound,

is my slightly larger Pana7000.

Although I think a Sharp9595 & Fisher PH470 (aka Sanyo p-6) could try.

radio.raheem - 2012-11-04 20:28

Well the technics arrived......i can confirm it sounds better than the m70 But and i mean a BIG but no battry pack and the belts are cream crackered or the motor....so it looks like i have to go through the nightmare of sending it back....well built and heavy....love the yellow led's and the best dolby system i have heard in a long time......but sadly think im going to send it back because im no good at changing belts for a start

northerner - 2012-11-05 00:45

That's a shame...they said it had the battery pack didn't they?...a bit naughty if they did. I'd be tempted to keep it and negotiate a discount if it sounds so good. I'd like one but it was a bit too rich for me at the mo. hope you sort it with the seller

stereo.mad - 2012-11-05 04:41

Reno,
Keep it man but demand money back, your get the belts sorted one day lad!
