Who knows this headphones?

kerni99 - 2011-08-29 08:43

Together with my recently at ebay catched AIWA Walkman came some SONY headphones ("Made in Japan"). As it were not the original ones, I did not pay attention to them. But now I tried them at my DD9 and I was quite surprised. I did not expect, that they will sound so good. I know that this are not high-end headphones like MDR-E484, but they deliver very crisp treble and good bass.

Does anybody know this headphones? There is no model number mentioned on the case or earbuds.

I have those mdr484!, I did buy them in 1988 or so, mighty expensive then

I think it's the MDR-E464, half the price of the MDR-E484.

Not the worst one

I have two pairs of these Sony MDR E464.  They are a good pair they have even been used for concert Stage "fold back" monitors by the likes of Sinead O'Connor and Peter Gabriel on live tours!

At the time in 1989-90 these in-ear phones were RRP in the UK at between £30-£36! That is about equivalent to about may be £70-80 in 2015-16 prices I guess!

i have a pair on eBay for sale

as this place here is not 'ebay' can we be privy to your 'reserve' as to be something less than £50.00 ( wonder what this would be converted to US Dollars ) located near PRESTATYN, Denbighshire, United Kingdom & Very good that this - Posts to: Worldwide

Hi James, I'm new here, wasn't too sure of the posting rules!

Problem is I made the eBay sale posting on my iPhone and it doesn't give me much flexibility on the reserve limit! I want to start the Selling price lower but not to under sell it as I have seen similar MDR-E464 sell recently for $159.00 (£111.0)on eBay rediculas price.

But anyway I bought these as a spare set but never actually used them! But the sponge bud covers rotted away! But I found new ones that fit!image

Posted a pic of Sinead O'Connor using the Sony MDRE 464. As in-ear fold back! Slightly modified buds!

Hi James

The Sony MDR-E464 in-ear phones!

Sorry one pair I had actually sold for the £50.00 price that's about $71.00 region!

I still have one more pair my spare one which I will sell too but there are no new bud covers for it!

If your in the USA  it's not worth me selling it to you unless you really want them, because the price I guess your looking at would be less

than I sold the last pair for!

If you consider the Shipping  cost

it's just not worth it as it would be more than the value of the item!

I loved these earphones at the time they have crisp treble and a good Bass for its size!

compared to modern day sets they had better style form and function!

new models around 2014 onwards

use style over quality of sound!

Which were the really expensive ones like this?

chris.ng - 2016-02-02 11:18

No the Sony Mdr-e464 were not expensive at all they were quite cheap! In 1989 they were about £25 that about$39.00 USd or there about, they were for the everyday person that enjoyed the outdoor life!

I used mine with my Sony DZ555 CD Discman!
