Heir audio 3.ai

retro - 2012-10-31 16:37

After reading so much positive feedback about these Iem's I decided to order a pair, and after anxiously waiting for about two weeks, they arrived packed nicely in a tidy box with foam inserts. The headphones came with a very durable storage box that I can keep in my messenger bag, and store without worrying about damage. Inside the box, I found these beautifully crafted ear-buds with a burl wood faceplate, and a gold Heir audio logo inscribed on them. Also inside the case were silicone bands with the Heir audio logo for attaching an amp to your iPhone or portable player, and more ear tips than I've ever seen bundled with a pair of ear-buds. Although they haven't been properly burned in, the sound is very impressive straight out the box. They have a U shaped sound signature and probably the deepest and most textured bass I've ever heard in an Iem. These are definitely a bass head's Iem, and more fun sounding than reference, which was what I was looking for. While the bass is very pronounced, it does not bleed into the mids or highs. For those looking for a more balanced sound, I would probably go for the 4.ai's, but I'm very happy with these. I listen to mostly bass heavy music which is what they are more suitable for. I thought I would include some unboxing photos for reference.
