Sankyo STD-1700

sankyasanyo - 2013-05-26 09:24

I just bought a Sankyo STD-1700 tape deck it is in mint condition ,with the original box ,styrofoam inserts ,and the plastic bag cover for $10.00 CDN .

The seller just wanted to get rid of it ,which is why it was so cheap .

Can anyone provide any info on Sankyo I have never heard of this company before ?

Here a couple of pictures .

Sankyo were a manufacturer and an OEM provider of cassette deck mechanisms, perhaps most famously for Nakamichi. Here we can see DRCASSETTE on youtube and you'll see a nice Sankyo strutting it's stuff with an amusing eject action (2nd tape deck featured). It's an interesting video but the house music is a little regrettable.

@ Nak_D we had a Nakamichi tape deck in our house it was really good quality ,my father had it in the typical 80's stereo cabinet with all the components inside .When I first saw the add I thought it was a typo and it was suppose to be Sanyo instead ?Looking at the Ebay price I think I got mine for a steal !

I had my cycle fitted with a Sankyo dynamo headlight in the 80's - The best available to us at that time - very powerful!

I have seen cassette deck motors made by Sankyo, Japan as well.
