The Astraltune Stereopack was first introduced in 1975, before the Sony TPS-L2 in 1979. (Please see the attached pic of the original Astraltune patent/trademark information from the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Notice the lower right corner that states how it was first used in commerce in 1975).
