Hello, I just picked up a sony wm-fx2 but i have no idea what kind of battery it uses. I assume its what this forum calls a gum stick. unfortunately I don't have the remote for it but I am anxious to find out if it works.

Welcome Mikey. You also may find your remote at www.partstore.com Most of them allow any headphones to be attached to remote or directly to player. Most of us except on a few models do not listen to headphones that came with players they usually are poor compared to what you can buy now. Highly recommend for daily listening Koss PortaPro's fantastic lows bit short on highs but they only run less than $40 on ebay new and you can buy replacement pads easily. The WM-FX2 is a very nice player very warm sound . What color is yours I have a chrome EX2 ( the F denotes radio E player only).

Your model was mfg. 95/96

Also wanted to mention that many of the later models made in 90's some features were only controllable from the remote. On your model the bass boost has not switch on player so to use a remote must be attached. When buying in future look closely at pictures or ASK seller what ALL switches/functions are on player as most players over time lose the remotes. Many newer smaller models ( my favorites also the oldest big brick ones) DO have all functions controllable from player. If you have any further questions please dont hesitate to ask as many of us are passionate and love to help out fellow members.
Forgot to mention you will need a wall charger for the gumstick. There are several mAh types most all are 1.2 volt which is the important part. The mAh is indication of how long the battery will last they make 600 to 1400. I believe yours uses the 900 but you can buy a 1400 and use in it will extend use time.
Can any other member confirm this ok to use higher mAh in any player with gumstick as long as volt rating is same as original ?

The remote is available see below at partstore but EXPENSIVE.. sadly prices for items no longer made CAN get expensive. the Remote for the FM model is most expensive but they are excellent company to buy from.
Sony 147339511 Sony 147339511 Remote Control $129.95

Here is battery charger I checked the FX2 has only 4 parts available but the EX1 , FX1, EX2 are nearly identical and many parts will work. Under FX1 it shows the battery charger but also a ton of money. I will bet if you go to RadioShack and have them do search even if not listed in catalog a battery charger for the gumstick could be bought for probably $20.
Sony 1-528-550-11 BATTERY CHARGER (BC-9HD) $85.95

Even better here is a RadioShack site with ALL catalogs available to view back to 50's. Check out a 94-98 catalog I bet you will find gumstick charger and then you will part number and then just ask a store to do search VIOLA you have one.
This is also a great site to stroll down that memory lane as we all at one time viewed their catalogs.

Thanks for all the info. I know I can buy a gumstick and charger for about $20 but the problem is I don't even know if it works.I paid 3 bucks for it at a store similar to goodwill and at the time I didn't know there was a remote for it. I am thinking of going back and see if I can find it there.

i just checked and hi-tech ,which was on ebay, doesn't have there combo deal right now. several months ago they had the 1400 mi-mh or anything lower than that delivered to your door with insurance for 26.00. that included 2 batteries and charger. i have charged batteries anywhere from 450mAh to 1400mAh on it with no problem. the cassette players don't seem to care much what you put in there. 1.2 volt is all that matters. it will even do the nic-cad. batteries with no problem. it is a bit slow charging but ranges from 7-9 hours depending on the size. when charged it shuts itself off. the only problem you may run into is if you ever get an old aiwa. most used "odd" gumsticks but that's a different story.

Hi...

thanks for your response.... i started fresh with LCDS on a new clean install of tomcat(not the one that comes with LCDS) All works fine now... I think it might be some port conflicts between the lcds-samples, lcds and my own application? Would i be right to say that each lcds app needs to have unique ports on the server to work correctly?

Regards
Rocky
