Newbie Guy and my custom Boombox

marty.machine - 2010-09-13 06:17

G'day from downunder Australia,

I'm a newbie here, so i thought my FIRST post should be something special Smile

Here's my very first Boombox i customised back in 1981/82....
I was inspired by the cover of the Maclolm McLaren Album cover (see last pic), since i had all the parts laying around (being an electronics tech) i did my best to build up my own "ghetto blaster". not bad for a 15-16yr old kid......i'm now almost 44, and have re-found my love for big ol' Boomboxes.....

The Boombox is a "Silver" brand, not sure if it's unique to Australia? or worldwide?
Does anyone recognise the model? as i'd love to find one again, or at least some pics "before" my mods.
Sadly, i dont have this anymore, i think it was thrown out when i "grew up" .... Doh!!!

Enjoy!
Marty.

Yep, "Silver" was the brand....
here's a pic i found on the net to confirm....although this model isn't my one....

Also found this info.....
"SILVER" was the brand label for tube- and transistor-radios, turntables, tape-recorders and hifi-components made by the Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. (Shirasuna Denki MFG. Co. Ltd.).
Produced in Japan and later in Taiwan (ROC).

History:
The predecessor of Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp., Shirasuna Electric, went bankrupt in 1957.
In 1994 the Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. was renamed to "Technol Ace Corporation"
