I don't recall a cassette with metal shell ,this must be an original idea from this company as the "PAT.PENDING" suggests and the answer they give to "why metal?"seems to be valid.

P.S. It is not a mass product . This shell used to make the service (adjustment) cassettes. Show in the 1980s. This cassette is made with an accuracy of 5 microns and provides highly accurate azimuth (for it is a reward in 1989).
