    Wow, great stuff! But there's a graph on page 2 that's hard to read. Is there a better copy anywhere?

    That's like $1,000! :eek:

    Although I guess that wasn't the case back then, the yen used to be cheap till the bubble burst.

    Edit: So I had to look up rates (against AUD), today is 111円, August 1981 was 266円, so an item of that price today is $899 but in 1981 was $375! No wonder they could make such high quality stuff still affordable.

    It blows my mind how cheap this was, two years earlier the Walkman was going for $200 USD. I look through a million ads, to me it seems like the stereo sweet spot was around $500-650 for a full system, receiver, speakers, TT, tape deck. Back when stores would package the components together, not all-in-ones. Without a TT, this would have made an attractive alternative for someone that wasn't into full-size equipment.

    I thought I had posted a USA Ad for it going for around this price but I was thinking this was end-of-life blowout pricing.

    Lets see if this works. The graph on page 2 is nearly unreadable, I think it shows Metal (blue), I can't read the KHz numbers.

    I'm not sure how it was set up but there was a poster included, it's either on the back and we're missing a page or it was separate.

    What a great find! I’ve never seen this Victor brochure before either! It’s beautiful! The famous early-80s JVC boombox brochure is one of the most important ones here; my entire JVC collection is based on it :)

    It’s a bit of a sales brochure, though, so I wonder how well it actually reflects reality. For instance, I see a silver tape counter button and blue tweeters. I wouldn't put too much in the accuracy of that graph...

    I do feel it should be crossing over rather than both speakers running in parallel for so long, it might be a graph of what the actual cones are capable of rather than how they are tuned in the unit.

    I'm not sure. I wouldn't be surprised, though, considering they're full-range speakers.
    Also consider that the JVC PC-5 has no tweeters at all, yet everyone says it sounds great, which proves that single speakers can produce a very wide range.
