Hi - I'm wondering about the cost for a refurb of a WM-D6 (ie not the C version)?

Yeah, I was hoping that it would be a simple belt, roller etc job that I was putting off - however, whilst it had been playing correctly using an official Sony AC-15A Adaptor, in the middle of digitising a tape then it started speeding up; where it's now playing ludicrously fast - so I'm assuming that it's a CP602 fault. :(

      Thanks.

Hi Deb, I just inherited a WM-D6C from my brother-in-law who passed away. He was the original owner. The device is in perfect shape but does not rewind or fast forward. Would love to send to you for service to keep the device functional for another generation. Thanks so much

If I had a WM-D6C that I needed repaired Deb64 is who I would send it to in the UK. I have many here but they are repairs I need to get to - I am in Chicago but now looking for more work. Leonardo is in Italy. Some of the Walkman Technician I knew at Sony are already gone. Sony when I was there in Niles threw all the new parts away- they probably did it all over before closing down.

I've seen people recommend you several times and was wondering if you could offer me any advice with my Sony WM-FX43...I changed the belt (to the one specifically recommended), cleaned the pinch rollers and capstans, and tried messing with the trimpot that controls motor speed, but all of my tapes still sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Any advice? I'd be willing to solder and I do own a multimeter. THANKS!

      Hello,

Would you be able to repair my WM-D6C? The belt has already been replaced, but there are a few other issues with the device. Here is a list

      - Auto stop activates once or twice before a tape can be played properly
      - Fast forward and rewind are not working
      - One of the wires on the circuit board has come undone and needs to be resoldered.

      Thanks.

      Hello Deb,

Are you still available to repair the Sony WM-D6C? If so, I'd like a quote. Serial number: 27363.

      Issues:
      - Motor spins fast when PSU is connected; could the CX20084 chip be faulty?
      - FF/RW work, but no sound from headphone/line-out jacks during play.
      - Belts and rubber parts need replacing.
      - If possible, I'd like a full refurbish.

Thanks for your time, looking forward to hearing from you!

      Hi Deb!
Every forum on the internet points to you as being the authority on repairing a WM-D6C. I was wondering if you were still available?

The issue seems to be the little black rubber ring doesn't make proper contact when Play is engaged, so the tape gets chewed up. I'm worried I've made it worse in trying to correct it myself.

I'm also based in the U.K.

      Cheers,
      Patrick

Deb64 is an outstanding resource in the UK. There is an adjustment screw setting to allow contact- If the rubber is worn out you can buy a kit from Slovenia that has all that you need. The most difficult part to change is the counter belt at .5mm thick and where it is.

I have a WM 6DC that plays but no sound and doesn't rewind or fast forward. I think it just needs a proper service. Would I be able to send it to you? I can hear sound on the line out but not the headphone jack.

Do you accept mail-in servicing on the WM-6DC from Sydney, Australia? (Faulty CX20084 as well most likely!)...

Hello! I have a WM-F15 and it plays abit faster than usual, also playing a clicking sound while in use. Not sure if this is something to be worried about, I didn't notice the difference until I played it along with my phone. 1.15x speed roughly. Clicking does concern me most and might be the cause of speed? I'd appreciate any advice or if you think it needs to be looked at I'd also really appreciate that, thank you

Hi, I saw your posts and replies on the sony WM-D6C. I have one that plays fast and sounds like a chipmunk. I was wondering if you still do these repairs. I'm from New York, US and am willing to pay postage if it would be possible for you to look at it. Thank you! :)

      Good Evening Deb64.

Having read alot of your posts, you are obviously the best person to ask about getting the speed issue on a Sony D6 resolved hopefully.

It has the typical problem of now running too fast. Would you be in a position to have a look at it with a view to repair if possible please.

I am not that far away, being in Hinckley.

      Many Thanks

      Lee

Hi there. I have a little used Sony WM-D6C (actually belongs to my wife) looks fab, but I did the stupid thing with an inappropriate power supply. Its clear you are an excellent source of advice but I wasn't sure whether you took on repairs and/or had access to old units that might cannibalised to make a fix possible?? Full story is in my introductory post! Kind regards

Hi there - I'd like to get my Sony Stereo Cassette-Corder TCS-470 fixed and found this forum - I think it needs a new drive belt. I once tried to repair a camera and found all sorts of bits and pieces pinging around the room once I'd unleashed a few screws here and there... Please let me know if you can help and what it might cost - I can send it by Royal Mail Registered. Many thanks.
