Awhile ago I had sold all my boomboxes off for a number of reasons. So this past summer on a nice Sunday Morning I'm at an antiques AKA junk fest in western NJ. I spot this mint JVC PC-XC12 on a table. In perfect working order. WITH the remote, power cord and manual. For 30 bucks. The woman selling it said it was her former husbands stereo. In fact, it appeared that she was selling many things that was his LOL (it must of not been pretty) Lots of tools and other man cave stuff. But business is business and I offered her 30 and she took it. My daughter thinks it's so old fashioned but she didn't mind it when I snagged her a Wii with games and controllers for 50 bucks and it was like new. I felt bad about her misfortune but she was glad to sell it off. This baby is loud and clear, really good sound. I also bought a Panasonic RX-4940 she had that was mint as well. I think I made her day and she made mine. I'm sure that will never happen again. On the old site I told this story but it didn't transfer over and I wanted to update it with further detail anyways when I rewrote it.
It's a beast. Almost 20 pounds with batteries. Has an internal fan cooled amplifier. It's really meant to be a mini system. It's a more manageable version of The JVC HZ-T30 "tower of power" model. JVC made some great machines in the past. The sound is quite good. Clear and lots of bass. Has a VERY sensitive tuner and the tapes and CD decks use no belts! All direct drive. Nicely designed.
Oh yeah especially for the price. Even the Panasonic along with it scored sounds nice. Way better than those idiotic Conions.
