Hello everybody, I recently presented you the latest Walkman I received: A SONY WM-EX7. See here: http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/my-sony-wm-ex7.7461/ [GALLERY=media, 1806]SONY WM-EX7 by Mighty Mightor posted Sep 3, 2021 at 7:29 PM[/GALLERY] It works pretty well. Understand that the tape runs and the sound is reproduced. But it has a mechanical problem that seems to be related to a rotating part, probably a gear. A video is worth a thousand words: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12YhC7lc4RMH4MQXW9P0lZYDVEBCsWlU3/view?usp=sharing What does that tell you? Thanks again for your interest in my problems. I love these machines but they don't give me back ;-)
I'm afraid I know what the problem is... I thought the EX7 did have a different clutch gear, but it seems that's not the case. The clutch gear is the one drived by that white gear you point in the video (it's under the PCB). Have updated the thread and the title to include the WM-EX7 in the problematic list. Look here for more info: https://stereo2go.com/forums/thread...ex7-ex560-562-ex550-552-ex660-662-ex570.7108/ It is reapairable, you just need to be patient to find a cheap donor unit. But I have to say, this is the worst I have seen, it's very loud, which means the crack is large. The seller should have told you about this problem (because it's something that's obviously a problem). The EX-5 described in the repair topic it was very quiet compared to what's in your video.
