I'm not sure where these scans came from but there seems to be a lot of interest in them. Looking at the back page it is a U.K. catalogue, and despite the date on front the publishing date is Spring 1980.
I love the boomers, high quality with good looks but starting to head towards the mass-merchandise models that followed, still a great value for collectors. I recently got the mono, I loved it's looks in ads but the sliders and keys are moving towards lower cost versions. Overall a great catalog and a great time to be a gadget lover.
I think this catalogue just predates the CFS45L That was the cheapest stereo box in the Sony range when I got it and cost about £80. The same year I bought a new Honda motorbike for £500 so about six times the price. A similar bike is now £4000 so the Sony was the equivalent of £650. Incidentally my very first post on the old Stereo2Go forum was to say the same thing. If you start comparing boomboxes prices back then with iPhone prices today it starts to make more sense. Also consider that the only phone I ever used back then was my parents. It would be another seven years before I had to pay a phone bill myself.
