Sony Ads

I was just dusting off my XF-5000 and looking for more information, found an ad! Yea this XF-500 is basically the same, there were three version, this has no radio and I think slightly less wattage. Still a stunner and Sony's most expensive boombox at around $2000 USD when new.

It is, if you look in the car stereo thread Sony had a line of very similar car models. They also overbuilt them so ads included boats and other transportation. I think this was their industrial version of a boombox, the first "contractor" boombox.

 

From 1987, this is really neat, maybe fit for Techmoan? CRT collecting is really a thing and Sony's seem to be the cool ones, here's one I've never heard of and imagine was silly money back then, a Sony with a built in 8mm VCR!

 

One of the grand-dads, even in 1971 I think Sony would have been much more than the Hong Kong Models that all the neighborhood kids had. This was almost four pounds! but very nice looking and I'm sure the top 1/2 was metal.
