Hello all, I've been repairing a Denon DR-M07. I've replaced the belts plus the gearwheel that drives the take-up spindle and is renown for shedding teeth. When playing the take-up spindle emits a ticking noise about twice per revolution. Also, rewind with a tape in doesn't work as it seems the take-up spindle is jamming. It looks to me like there's a plastic plate keeping in a spring that's part of the back of the torque converter which has a split in it which makes a noise as it passes over holes in the chassis. What I can't work out though is how to remove that spindle to investigate! On the front of the spindle is a nut that seems to be a shade over 11mm across. Does that need to come off or does that just adjust the clutch pressure? Photos are below. In the picture of the rear (2nd) it's the gear with a cross in the top and a magnetic ring. Rather flummoxed at present and concerned about damaging something so any help much appreciated! Mike
Thanks for looking. Unfortunately that video doesn't go into removal of the spindle. I've got the service manual and that is really vague - it shows the whole spindle as one assembly but nothing on how to remove/replace it.
