Someone was throwing out their old expired emergency kit (from a workplace?). Lots of dried up old wipes and plastic whistles and super cheap dollar-store "Swiss army knife clones".

There were 6 small radio's. The radio's are low cost "Precision" brand. They look and feel about 15 or 20 years old. That low quality "old China manufacturing feel" that is no longer the case anymore. AM and FM work fine. Uses 2 AAA cell.

Note: In the bottom of the box are a bunch of home made CD's of junk software and music.

Score! I've had some great curb finds but no dumpster finds in years. When I was a kid we lived by college dorms, in the spring when school was done they'd leave a few dumpsters next to the dorms and it was hunting time for us kids. We used to find some great stuff, those were good times.

The Dorm Dumpster Diving sounds great, what was the best thing you guys found?

As for these craptacular radio's, I would hate to have only one of these in a real emergency, awful tuning and sensitivity etc., Some boxes still have earbud headphones in them as well.

We used to find stuff like piano key recorders, TV sets, alarm clocks and all the other junk a college kid would have in a dorm. We had a few scores but I can't remember what they were, it was back in the late 70's.

We also had a sales office for Burrough's, they had adding machines and other cool stuff back then. Once a year, around this time, they would get a dumpster and throw out what looked like old leased equipment. About four of us kids would climb into the dumpster armed with a screwdriver and we'd rip them apart for all the cool lights, micro-switches and small motors. This photo is similar to what we'd find but they'd take a hammer to the keyboard first.
