Which boombox had a detachable tape deck in the early 80's?

    Hi everyone!

I remember seeing a boombox around 1983-84 (I believe it was a Fisher, but I may be wrong) which offered a VERY cool-looking detachable tape player, so, you could transform the boombox into a portable cassette player.

    Has this been discussed here?

    Thanks!! ✌

I viewed all the models posted in that thread.

I don't think the one I remember was a Fisher, or any of the ones posted.

I remember clearly that, back then, every weekend for one or two months I scoured the stands in this most likely market in Mexico City for a WM10 (very frustrating experience as I never found one) and on one of those visits I came across that boombox with the detachable deck.

After several visits to that open-air, informal, and quite dangerous place (Tepito - the only place in Mexico City where you could find new, high quality imports) I was about to give up and someone offered me the boombox with the detachable deck and I was this close to buying it because the tape player was VERY stylish: No cheap plastic anywhere to be seen, it was very slim, and very top-tier looking, actually , better looking than the WM10... And since my fixation and expectations were up there with the WM10, I remember I was about to settle with that boombox unit. None of the ones pictured in the posts is it. Now that I've seen them all, I'm thinking it was probably a JVC unit, not a Fisher.

The two from JVC are in the first post marked as Victor, they had a larger square model and a long flat model. These were both higher end models, very nice quality and build.
