Hi, I've found this forum whilst repairing a comptley non functional Sony TC-D505 tape deck. This unit is currently in repair at the Rushmoor Repair Cafe (UK)- www.rushmoorrepaircafe.org - a non profit of which I'm one for the founder members. I've managed to successfuly clean up both decks from the dreaded rubber goo. Replaced the belts with a kit from - www.webspareparts.com - and both decks are running. I have one problem with deck A (left ?) which will not auto reverse. Traced the problem to a split gear on the head reverser so the gears don't mesh properly. If carefully "assisted" it will swap over but it jams in normal operation. Does anyone know if this part is available, I presume it will be the complete head assembly. From the Sony technical manual the part # ? I presume is A-2003-418-A or TCM-190RA12 I needed this introduction first, butI can move / repost in the - https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/sony-tc-d505.7162/ - thread if needed.
