Recently added the Brother label maker to my gadgets because it does a great job of labelling rare cassettes that you may want to reuse or sell one day. Given the prices asked for Sony Metal and Metal Master cassettes you are reluctant to write on the original labels let alone stick hand written original labels on the cassette shells. The 6mm label tape comes with white background for those Sony Masters and clear for TDK MA-RC90 etc. Easy to remove and wipe off any residue when you're done with that recording.
They seem to come off easily now. I guess that will be the real test in the future. If the label plastic disintegrates when removing it in a few years time.
I have the Brother PTH110BP and have used it for a few cassette case labels too! I use the white label strips and place on the cassette case spine only. Will try and get some pictures up tomorrow
In amongst the case of cassettes I grabbed that was being thrown out a few years back was an Al Di Meola "Scenario" tape. That's how I got onto this music. Land of The Midnight Sun (1976) with it's opening track "The Wizard" and track 3 "Dark Eyed Tango" from Casino (1978) quickly joined my short list of favorite all time instrumental pieces. I used an old 60 minute TDK MA-R for Meola selections.
Nice collection and no missing record protection tabs on those TDK cassettes too. Not the greatest idea from TDK as they can work loose over the years and drop out and end up lost. That's an interesting commercial cassette with the famous black Les Paul guitar on the cover. He's quite young in that photo. As you know he got his big break at 19 with Chick Corea. My favourite album is still Elegant Gypsy and sound he got from that Gibson Les Paul on Midnight Tango. Recently he toured using that vintage Les Paul again to recapture that unique sound. If you're into instrumental jazz fusion you would probably like Joe Satriani too. Another king of tone. I Recently acquired his 2004 release "Is there love in space" on limited 180gm vinyl from MusicOnVinyl ex Holland and its superb. The track "If I Could Fly" has some Dimeola like phrasing here and there even though Joe always uses his signature Ibanez lock down guitars.
